Tammy D, don't beat yourself up about relapsing. it seems the experience firmed your resolve, because you didn't enjoy it. it would have been different if you simply indulged yourself unthinkingly - it is part of the whole process of giving up - more importantly is how you pick yourself up again. the memory of this event will be with you next time and will probably help you more next time - it gives you the opportunity or experience to know how it felt to relapse and that in itself may help you to resist next time.
i believe painkillers are deadly to overcome! you have my utmost sympathy on that. tough tough tough. and bear in mind, you are in an unbelievably stressful situation right now - don't make it harder on yourself, really. forgive yourself - actively - and move on. truly, it is OK. just keep on keeping on. know that it will probably always be a battle and rather focus on all of the times that you DO resist the urges.
bless you.

Hey my forum Princess!
I hate to tell you this, but I ventured out to see a girl that I was in detox and I should have known better. The first rule is you do not have any contact with the people in which you are going thru the program. I am embarrassed to say that I relasped and at the time... I was justifying it with the woes me and why me etc... In any event as you know my DOC is painkiller's and she had some and I took 2, then immediately felt like crap. If there is a constilation here, I know I didn't like the feeling and it felt like forever. I couldn't shake the high off. I went to my son's hockey game and spent most of it in the washroom crying.
What a f ing idiot I am. Sorry to burden you with this and I'm sure you have better things to think about like your son. I will chat with you soon.
Lots of xoxoxo

Tammy,

Please understand that I am not the one you need to apologise to for your condition, but hey I do appreciate your honesty to me ... If you have my email address, and I think you may, you can at anytime email me ... If you would rather not explain yourself on the forum, but you need only apologise to yourself and your family only ...

It's easy for someone like me who has been blessed not to have an addiction as such, but don't be fooled the opportunity and my upbringing was always near enough to touch, I just didn't ...

I did drink in my young years, too heavily and meeting my husband was the turning point in my life ... The skills and learned ability from my past experiences are what endeares me to a more phylisophical approach to my life and other people ... I don't always know the right thing, but my instincts are strong and it's the total trust in my spirituality rather then my religious beliefs that hold me in good stead ...

I was also a heavy smoker another habit dublilcated from my parents ... No harm in smoking, so we thought ... One morning having breakfast I experienced a pain like a large knife piercing the middle of my back ... My left shoulder dropped and hey taking a drag on that smoke, I just was not capable ... Diagnoses, spontaneous haemorthorax (collapsed lung)... 6 weeks before my wedding date ... NOT GOOD ... EXTREMELY PAINFUL ... NEVER AGAIN DID I SMOKE (cold turkey)... My right lung partially collapsed a month or two after my wedding ... The doctor said I should have never put a cigarette in my mouth as I have pollups on my lungs that can burst at any time and cause my lungs to collapse ...

Please understand Tammy, I have to do a personal awareness check on myself as well, and so should everyone ... One thing at a time though Tammy ... Can I ask are you seeking medical and councelling support now? You've made a wrong call, no beating yourself up, but you'll have to play a new deck of cards and put everything on the table, and possibly make a new list ...

You seem to get panicked, Yes? You have been emotional about your home and Christmas and your mother, Yes? Well they are the signs and you will be the one who has to take responsiblity for putting your hand up and let someone know when things are getting too much ... NO CRYING OVER SPILT MILK ...

I did get my arse into gear and went shopping today with my daughters and it actually wasn't near as bad as I feared ... We had a good day really, but so did my bank manager, I think ... My daughter received an OP of 8 (2 better then my son)... He'll be happy for her, and he has little to worry about because he does well in his profession, is very well paid and lives a very good life in Sydney ...

Take care of you and yours Tammy ... Colleen

You have a right to your opinion in as much as everyone else does too.
happy forumming in true democratic style!

Sugar,

Similarly, it makes me wonder who your are and how old you are ... I keep asking you to re-read your post, this is because it is slightly unclear what your question is ... No issue, I've been trying to work around it without making too much out of it ... But I must apologise for my sensitivity ... Put downs can be most unhelpful and humour isn't working either ...

You also post as if you're undermining me just because you've decided I come across as someone who threatens your reasons for being on this forum ... THAT IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN MY INTENTION ...

I actually try my hardest to be clear and concise and to give support and informative details as we are all from different continents and persuations and as I've come to learn of late, from different levels of education ... It's just that with many interactions on this forum you can be seen more clearly by some than those who have blurred vision ...

If you want information on a wildlife issue or tv program you could google - Wildlife Warriors or Australian Animals perhaps ... I don't have access to The Crocodile Hunter and I don't tune into Animal Planet, sorry ... I don't think Keith Urban would know that answer either, so that should redeem my integrity ... Any KU questions Sugar?

Hi there Sugar,

1. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THE "TRUE-BLUE" KU FANS WERE SO BRASSED OFF THAT THEY WENT TO THE FORMUM AT www.keithurbanmates.net ...

2. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF ALL THE KU AB/USERS LOST THEIR NEED TO COMMENT BECAUSE THEY FOUND THEIR "TRUE BLUE" CONSCIENCE ...

This is a forum for everyone to share in something that should be of interest to them ... Some ab/users don't even have a KU single let alone his cd or video and they openly admit it ... WHAT THE!

I've been on here about a year now and I've viewed, shared and commented on attacks on some of Keith's more vunerable and youngest fans ... Some people believe irrespective of your age or dispositon or even if your here for the right purpose, they've got MORE right to bring you down or make disrespectful personal comments on what you say and even discuss you openly with another poster ...

If anyone is wondering where some of our "True
Blue" forum friends have gone since Keith's wedding ... They are in the forum corridor's looking in from the sidelines ...

WHY? They just weren't getting anything positive out of the experience they'd had hoped to and to "be here" to share it with other Keith Urban fans ...

I hope you certainly gain a whole lot more from your experience Sugar ... We all have that right ...

Cheers ... and Merry Xmas

Dear all,
I'm back.
To Whitebutterfly: apart from the fact I don't understand very well from your messages (also in other topics) if you like KU and his music very much,I would say that Keith Urban is not the Brad Pitt of music, yes, he has a very great sex appeal and he looks gorgeous, but he 's a down to earth boy, with his values and his frailty...he is very human and I like him very much for this .Brad Pitt is a chameleon:he was a rebel in the early periods, than the perfect guy in the latest 90' and now he is all family and humanitarian...yeah! he is handsome, but I don't like that kind of personality- he seems to be an actor also in his life!
I would like prefer Keith as the Bon Jovi of country music (my other idol)!
Really I don't like when stars make all those humanitarian projects with media with them:for me it's only a way to get publicity as good people- I don't like also to see NK in Sidney with ill children- alot of images_ If you wnat to help, send money, but stay with your family- expecially your husband, who need more your presence than a pic with a ill boy! For me all this hide a bit of hypocrisy...
I'm also quite sure that if you only smell drug you don't need to take it- apart that a lot of drugs don't smell at all- sometimes I smelt cannabis, but for this i didn't go to taste it!This is an "urban" legend!
I'm pretty sure that Keith problems are more psycological than phisical: a lot of rockSTARS- not the "bad" stars- use to drink a lot expecially on tour with the band or with friends: the Bon Jovi drink, Bono drinks...they don't seem in bad healthy conditions...but they don't marry a "perfect" Hollywood star...
I don't understand why Keith- who had a long dated periods with his ex- got marry to NK in so a short time, considering there were some troubles between them (They broke up dating twice, isn't it?)....
Hoping to have some good news soon, at least a Keith letter for Christmas,
alot og greetings to you...
Ciao!

You seem to be holding up really with the twins. I saw a photo of the Keithster on the front of one of our Sunday papers and he is positively chubby. The shame of it is that it spoils his great looks. I hope he can do something about this and that the twin chins and twin cheeks disappear quickly!

TWIN cheeks, TWIN chins. Keith will be able to split himself in two soon and have one out on the road and one at home, cleaning the house (and all the other stuff he does) for Nicole.

Alexander,

Please understand that there is a possibility Keith, due to his addicition issues, may be on some form of medication and that can cause weight gain ... Sometimes we must endure in our hope for a better way of life, at all costs ...

I like to judge a person by what's on the inside rather than the outside ... They say beauty is only skin deep ... When I see Keith perform in Brisbane it will be for that and that alone ...

Mick Jagger, Sting, Phil Collins, Elton John, Billy Joel and Michael Jackson etc etc sure ain't no oil paintings but for me it's about their music and their entertainment ability and Keith Urban would mix it well with any of the above ...

Time goes by and we loose our good looks but we should never loose our compassion and good manners ...

Good evening from Tenn. KU forum friends! Just reading over the posts and have to inject some of my knowledge about rehab, gaining weight etc., having goine through much with my son. Each time he went in rehab, he gained about 20-30 lbs. Most of the time it was due to simply beginning a healthier lifestyle - eating more responsibly and also to a much more sedentary lifestyle. I'm not saying Keith wasn't eating well, but sometimes when you are dipping too much into your addictions, food is second or third on your list. Keith's program seems to have been on some of the level of my son's, after hearing him talk about 'having a roommate', which is typical of most rehab facilities. That info kinda thru me since I thought perhaps Betty Ford facility would be more upscale and he would have a private room, but also made me feel that Keith was indeed sincere with his commitment to facing his addictions head-on, and willing to participate as a regular guy would. My son also wasn't on any meds while in rehab, but you do have access to that option to help cope, so it is an individual decision. I thought Keith's response to Matt Lauer on The Today Show was interesting when he said (in so many words) that is was the fact that he was home too much, not working that factured into his relapse - he had too much spare time I assumed and that led to some temptations. Anyway, enjoy reading y'all's posts, but don't think because I don't respond to all of them - I have abandoned my 'urban-girlfriends'. By the way, Windy, did you get your tix to Memphis today??!! Good nite all from Tenn. where it is cooolllldddd! Rita

Hi Rita,

You've been on my mind this weekend and it's so good to hear from you and all your wisdom ... Great reading and informative learning ...

Of course, Keith openly thanked his wife, family, friends and fans ... His support group ...

Your son should be justly proud and thankful of his support group and your efforts and strength of character simply amaze me ...

God Bless Rita ...

Also I tought he should have more privileges in that facility, like playing guitar, a private room, watching TV, more visits...nothing of this, he seems so a normal guy...i think he passed really bad time, luckily he had overcome all in so a brillant way, but i think he and his wife need some time o relax, like a short vacation at sea...they are too much focusing on working!

Hi Philly,

When someone goes to rehabilitation it is usually for dependancy related issues ... The medical teams focus is relative to that course and their purpose is to have their patient focus on the problem at hand ...

They would also understand their patient has other needs and I would suspect they would be allowed to delve into those interests, ie Keith and his need for music - he was not imprisoned but he was in deed there to overcome his disease ...

I do agree with your comment about Keith and Nicole and that they are possibly working too hard, but I also respect their call on that too ...

Hoping all is well with you and yours Philly ...

ciao,
quite good by myself....
I appreciate that Keith is more muscular nowadays...saw yesterday the new serie of Grey's anatomy and noticed that some of the most important actors put on some weight...
Luckily for Americans the fashion of the "too much thin" seems to be finished, while in Italy, not only women must seem like pencils, but also boys...
