Change in the scenery:

*...Camera is back in the Philosophy Class... Professor AllKnowing looks at her class and silently smiles. A smile that nobody sees. She looks at one student and thinks 'he may not be completely wasted after all...' but decides not to say anything, not yet. After all, it is only the beginning of the Semester....*

Ladies, with your permission... I'd rather stay out of this little game. It might seem to you that it's all in good fun and all that, but... it's also objectifying. And that's one fine line I'd rather not cross.
Almost did cross it, when I was young and green in the fandom and didn't know better.(Queen knows, we were partners in crime once :D) But that was then; this is now. Again, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. Just please count me out of this particular game.
[note is delivered to LucaM]
My Dearest LucaM, twas nary a thought to objectify anyone, for anything. The liberty has been taken and the Royal Handyman has removed the knob on the outside of the closet door. The door ONLY opens from the Inside, thus allowing said Closet Man..his sense of privacy, tranquility and power. Now please, take the seat in the 3rd row..class is about to begin.

[from the 4th row a voice rings out]

Q: Teacher? Teacher"[Queen raises her hand so as to be seen]

[Professor AllKnowing is shaken from her day dream]

PA: Yes...ahh let's see, no, don't tell me..need to learn your name eventually, no time like the present..ahh yes..here you are..Yes, Queen?

Q: Can I go to the bathroom?

PA: Really? Class just started, not even 5 minutes ago...

Q: I had two cups of tea in the garden this morning..
[the look of desperation on Queen's face, tells it all]

PA: Fine. Be quick about it..we have alot of ground to cover!

School? At MY age? Philosophy Class, no less...
*sigh*.
Oh well, if that's the price I have to pay for you leaving that closet alone... so be it then.

..well IF you had read your note..you would know the closet is safe and sound. Shall I post Royal Guards as well?[Queen picks up The Red phone] "Yes, we are going to be in need of those guards afterall, stat".

Good Morning senior citizens - I hope we have early enough meeting, its 03.20 NYC time....your Old Professor AllKnowing has been a bit busy yesterday (with the Closet in and out... just to find out that the 700-year-old Squeeze-Man is running allover London as soon as the Queen opened the knob...)

...so after everybody has been to bathroom and back, we can start our meeting at this "University of Freedom" and discuss LucaM's concern about... what was the concern about again..(memory loss)... oh yes... that the Man in the Closet is being objectified. That he is supposedly a sexual object to several women lining up, and taking the number... currently the number is ...*OMG*...

So our agenda today is to address
1) Luca's concern about the Man being a sexual object to women rather than 'being allowed to be' for example 'just' a professional person, an actor.
2) And secondly, how does that differ from thousands of (non-celebrity) women's concern of being a sexual object to men, rather than being allowed to be for example 'just' a professional person, an actress, lawyer, doctor, secretary...
3) Is it (or is it not) the Squeeze-Man's concern of being a sexual object more 'weighty' just because he is a man, or a celebrity?
4) Is it (or is it not)the Squeeze-Man's role in the entertainment business indeed to be sexual object, at least partially, and sexuality being or having been part of the Product he is selling into the entertainment business?

I agree with Luca that there is a fine line, a line drawn in the water as they say, but where exactly is the line that may make the person feel uncomfortable?
Is it the line about personal boundaries or the line dictated by the customers or the industry?

well, I guess it depends on whom you ask....
I draw the line at personal boundaries, whether it is about a celebrity or a mall clerk.
but then, I'm both old and old-fashioned.

I guess in the end it's all about "do unto others..."

I think there was a mis-understanding..gaining audience with someone and having your way with someone are two different things. Never did I say anyone could have their way with anyone..so therin lays the confusion.

I shall say this on the subject of objectification of woman. Sadly alot of them have done it to themselves by the way they dress..or don't dress. Too much skin is bad for the imagination and girls are down to show just about any part...what was that show "College girls gone wild", even on tv, like the "Jerry Springer" show, they flash their tits to everyone and think it is cool.

When they do make up commercials or even wear make up, they objectify themselves..it has become the norm to sexualize and objectify the human race. And folks buy into as normal..cuz everybody is doing it and that is what is take to be normal..I'm not from your planet, hence I'm not like the norm!

About the women: I agree with you, thank you Q 182 for your post! I come from Northern Europe (equal society and working in a male-dominated industry) and I have never experienced any sort of sexual objectification, let alone being harassed anywhere in the world (..er...I will leave my Russia experience away from this conversation, not a right place or time), my USA covers only NYC so I know nothing about other towns. I think there is this subtle line whether you as a female want to send sexual messages or not. Nordic females generally don't. Generally.

Advertising industry: This is a topic I could delve in endlessly... In Nordic countries women legislate so it ends right there on legal grounds. Women, men, elderly, children .. all groups equally. But USA comes as a big surprise for me: Here women do legislate as well but it does not show up in the society... I wonder what they do in the D.C..?

'Norm' how to dress up: Agree with you Queen 182. Again, it's our own choice how to present ourselves. In the end, it is really nice in a big city likeNYC to get really genuine and polite compliments from ladies and gentlemen alike, about your personal choices. That tells you that not everybody like the current 'norm'.

Some of us naturally exude sensuality..fully clothed. I get alot of compliments on my jewelry..haha. I have been called a Moon Goddess and even a very strong woman, by complete strangers.

I have never been a fashion statement..although I was wearing stripes and flowers lllooonnnnggg before it was cool. Growing up, I hated shopping..detested it. The polyester was so itchy..I was happy with my old cloths..as they were broken in..lol!

As for women in politics? I really don't do politics..I get lost in all the double speak..simpleton here. Adverstising..SEX is what sells..hands down, up or sideways. People are overly sexualized in the USA..from a young age. And woman were 2nd class citizens for quite awhile here..so change takes time!

Thank you for responding, you are welcome for my post.:) Have a great rest of your day!

Hmm...

I really cannot always read between the lines, sorry. More questions than answers. But I am happy if you both have found a balance in your lives.

Wow Moon Goddess you must be a VERY SEXY WOMAN.... I am 100 % sure you naturally exude exactly this wonderful sensuality fully clothed or not. I am sure you certainly get a lot of compliments not only on your jewelry but on your natural beauty, wisdom and strength. And I am sure your husband must be a very lucky guy.

Oh boy I feel myself so old as well. Like today. Like generally. I don't know whether it is being old soul or just tired to hear people complaining and being unsatisfied, without doing anything about it. Too many people having their glasses half empty or half full. Too many half-people out there. Too many superficial people whose thinking I just do not comprehend.
