Honest, I never heard of this book until a month ago. Intrigued, I took it out of the library.

As literature, I think it is negligible (JMO) but I'm amazed by the fact that a well known Hollywood director alleges an affair with an A-List bona fide movie star and the book fell down the memory hole. I don't think the book was ever reviewed in a major newspaper. And it's never mentioned. Weird. You'd think that someone would mention it.

A person who comments here isn't a major review in a newspaper or a magazine.

Jayne? Well yes, Gus actually wrote about Swifty and Spunky. Told about how Swifty never called, told about how Spunky was in love with Swifty and fucked him whenever he saw him. Spunky was pining away...until he found someone else. Door to Door told the exact same story about Keanu...never called but when he did, she was always willing and ready but ready for what? At least Gus never said he needed for Keanu to take a shower.

Didn't I said, I began to mis ardith? Ask , and you be heared!Nice, a little of mustard always welcome on my sandwich, should I say. I don't like it too sweet, just don't forget the mesure.[My personal definition of the edge is: celebrity's are human beings too.He could wear Micky Mous- suit, or a space-suit, or iron armour - words can hurt very painfully . So, don't say about him, what you wouldn't like to read about youself]

Yeah, I read the book so I know the story line. I wonder how much credence to put in the accuracy. I don't really care about that - meh, I do not care who Keanu sleeps with, if anyone - what I wonder about is why this book, in our gossip-oriented day and age, disappeared. It's kind of weird that a book by a famous director which alleges a gay relationship with a famous hunk isn't better known.

may be, just a bad book?
( sorry, I didn't read it self)
Do you suspect, KR bought with his Matrix-money all exemplars? How did you find yours? I should run to the library, take the "last book" and never bring it back - one day you could be rich .

Readers reviews were awful. Book went down the toilet and remained out of print. Critics review literature not garbage.

Musings on Pinks musings...
Mar 20 '00
Pros: Original,and Highly Creative
Cons: Frustratingly confusing.
Summary: Pink was written by acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant (My Own Private Idaho, Good Will Hunting, Drugstore Cowboy, etc.).
I really wanted to enjoy this book, because I appreciate many of his films. Sadly, I can't say that I liked it(Pink) very...
*******
Snippet from other bad review: FICTION REVIEW
Van Sant's allegory, by turns elegiac and satirical, of today's movie business (films as infomercials, Hollywood as Las Vegas) is the novelistic equivalent of hand-held camera work--jittery and compelling in short bursts but hard to watch for long
*****FINALLY*******97 SNL TRANSCRIPT*********
Quentin Tarantino: We're moving on, moving on! Gus. "My Own Private Idaho". Keanu Reeves. Was the purple prose of your dialogue the only thing Keanu had problems with his tounge getting around?
Gus van Sant:[ stutters ] Uhh, Quentin, Keanu is not gay.
Quentin Tarantino: Yeah but you are, Buddy.
Gus van Sant: Yeah, but I thought we were talking about directors and actors...
Quentin Tarantino: Well you know what? I just changed the subject! Tonight's issue is the relationship between a director and young, male husslers. What do you think about that, huh? I got one word for you, Buddy, Pasolini!
Spike Lee: Hey, what about you and Uma?
Gus van Sant: Yeah!
Quentin Tarantino: Uma Thurman?

Well, it was a very cryptic book, I understood part of it and I was about the only fan who bothered to read it. Most of it was...beyond me.

Did you understand the story of Cowboy Nemo?

Another thing, if you noticed, Blake was in Last Days and Lukas and Scott were in Last Days more or less like Matt and Jack. At least that is my opinion.

Actually, critics review garbage all the time.

The book was topical. I never said it was good - I said the opposite.

Personally, I think that River was the love of Keanu's life and that he's looked like a swan without his mate ever since River died.

http://myriverphoenixcollection.com/keanu.htm...

Keanu was 28, 29 years old when these pictures were taken. Come on.

I remember reading the People magazine article in 1995 and being so thrilled that he was available and he had only had one girlfriend, the one again off again, for a year (unnamed!) and I was delighted! He was waiting for me!

Now I know why they wrote that sh8t - for stupid little teenaged fangirls like me, with pictures of Keanu on their bedroom walls. I'm older and wiser now, I know that Hollywood lies, and I don't buy the lies anymore.

The SNL transcript is a sketch and Tarantino was played by an actor. He never really said the above. Also from 1995 not 1997.

I think he was 26 when those pictures were taken. I think River was the one in love and that's why he changed the script.

That's not a bad review. Do you know what the words "elegiac and satirical" and "compelling" mean?

Wrong, Tarantino was the host and he more than likely wrote that skit.

I think Pink was published here in the states in the fall of 1997. Stone had a book out too. Gus said Pink was...I think he said it was his memoir.

And the rehab story in the book...what could you possibly make of that? I do think I recognized some people besides Gus, River and Keanu.

And even though Swifty seemed to fit Keanu to a tee...is it possible that Gus was really thinking about Scott Green?
