After watching Side by Side for the second time I can't help but wonder if we are going in the right direction as a society. Where's the line in the illusionary world and reality we live in collectively due to our consciousness as a whole? What is real or what is possible? I don't know. None of us have the answer. In my opinion this is where the problem lies. For instance, my daughter is unplugged and constantly reaching for some sort of media. Addictive withdraws set in when access is limited or restricted.
We seem to detach from what is here and real, the touchable and the activity in the mind. It seems as though technology is slipping us into a deep sleep where we are.unaware of what's around us. The human mind is a powerful tool and a wonderful device when used properly. The question is, does technology hinder us from seeing the value of what's here and what's just an illusion? I feel as if it has numbed our senses and values.
We Spend time on social media where avatars are just made up stories and images replace familiar faces. Ethics and integrity are manipulated, loyalty diminished and who is to blame? We are all a member of society one is not more responsible then the other.

There are two sides to every story, yet I have to ask. What good is social media when you forget who is even sitting next to you? I know this has nothing to do with movie making or anything. But, it does raise a concerning question. What are we gaining by living in a constant illusion?

I really enjoyed reading your post, bliss.

Manipulation, ethics, integrity... forgetting who is even sitting next to you...

Have you watched Wall-E? It's a most excellent movie with a profound real life message. I'm not talking about the environmental "foreboding" theme throughout it. I'm referring to the other message about companionship and living/experiencing the life we were born into. It's such a great movie.

Happy weekend!
