Does anybody care?

Well how convenient that an actor supporting Obama will hold a rally on the same day as the Republican VP candidate comes to Asheville. I don't remember this kind of disrespect being shown to that liar when he was here a couple of weeks ago.

In response to the previous three comments:
A famous actor takes time out of his busy schedule filming a tv series in order to travel to college campuses and get the word out about early voting and the policy proposals of the Obama campaign, and all you can do is gripe about his appearance here? And, in response specifically to comments by "A rare Dem": Penn's appearance was at approximately 12:30 today... almost SEVEN HOURS before Palin's appearance tonight at the Civic Center! How in the world can you say that's disrespectful? Seriously people, do a little bit of thinking before you make idiotic/uninformed statements. |

There is get out the vote as a generous giving of time without political agenda. Then there is a political rally on a leftist campus meant to intemidate anyone that doesn't support Obama. As for same day rallies. If Republicans took Ted Nugent to a city where Biden was meant to speak just hours later you all would be furious. |

Did you actually attend Penn's "rally"? You make comments like you did.
And I don't give a sh*t if a Republican speaks in a city on the same day that a Democrat does. |
||||
Why would I have to attend a rally that is prescripted to admonish the attendees to get out and vote...for Obama! You can't dismiss me with a broad stroke of if you weren't there you have no say. In that case your entire Democrat party needs the shut the **** up, since 99% of them don't attend Republican rallies to hear what is being said. If you had bothered to read, rather than prove your left wing ignorance, you would have seen where I posted that if Republicans sent Ted Nugent to speak in the same city on the same day as the Democrat VP candidate. You all would be up in arms about the injustice of it and the dirty politics because the Republicans were drawing attention from the Democrats in a low down dirty way. Tell me honestly, if you remember how, is that, is is that not, the truth? |

Well, you described the event as a rally to "intemidate (sic) anyone who doesn't support Obama." That statement right there shows your ignorance toward the event and its purpose. I did attend the rally, and I believe Penn mentioned McCain's name approximately 2-3 times and that was only to differentiate between the policies of the two campaigns. No "intemidating" went on there.
I haven't attended Republican rallies this election cycle primarily because almost all that comes out of the McCain/Palin campaign is lies that have been proven as such. I do, however, take the time to read about the positions of the candidates and about their biographies in order to better understand where they are coming from in this campaign and what they plan to do for the country. So please spare me the whining about my supposed "left wing ignorance." And you either did not read my comment or didn't understand it. My point was, why does it matter if two candidates (or activists with differing views) appear in the same city on the same day if they are not appearing at the same time? Seems like that is what we call fairness, in that people would have the opportunity to attend both if they so chose. So what's the big deal? |

My point Jamie boy was that it is common courtesy to not double book a town during an election cycle. This has been a standard for decades and rarely broken. Serve on campaigns at several different levels for a couple of decades and you might learn these insider things. It annoyed me slightly that no other demonstration or rally was held, aside from that pitiful Republican get together downtown, at any point while Obama was in Asheville. Step outside your narrow view for a second and imagine a high profile Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity holding a pro McCain rally in Asheville on the same day as Obama's rally. The fire storm of liberal hate blazing the TV, radio, and print would have been unavoidable. Most of the time it is a respect thing that opposing parties don't overlap cities. To be fair, and had you not chopped my head off I would have included this sooner. Kal was booked prior to the Palin campaign stop and so the Obama camp couldn't alter plans to show courtesy. No Palin shouldn't have held off, she is the ticket and therefore headlining and takes presidence. I was venting a little bad blood based on other inequities I see in the campaign. But hey I hope you enjoyed forcing me to spell out in minute detail courtesy and rules in which campaigns are run. |
