Clueless character doesn't mesh with 'My Boys'

There are 6 comments on the Chicago Tribune story from Jul 31, 2007, titled Clueless character doesn't mesh with 'My Boys'. In it, Chicago Tribune reports that:

I've finally figured out why I don't much care for "My Boys" . The lead character is gratingly lacking in self-awareness, which is a double-edged sword when it comes to comedy.

I agree! I really tried to like this show, particularly because it takes place in Chicago and I get some degree of pleasure at recognizing the references to local gems and, well, exits off the Kennedy. I started watching this season hoping the show had made the necessary adjustments but the in-your-face baseball to life analogies are just too much for me.

Well stated ... I enjoyed this show last season and as the previous commenter added, really want to like the show for its hometown flair. However, after the episode mentioned in the article (PJ's television debut) I was left wondering ... "she's supposed to be a sports writer?"

Anyway, I agree, Jim Gaffigan is great asset to the guy-friend ensemble.

i like the show- altho last year was far better than the episodes so far this year, but i still have hopes for it. i hope they make thru another season and get renewed altho i think it'll be hard for them to find the appropriate demographic. how many women can relate to a women sportswriter? and men have problems dealing since its show written by a woman and starring one. they'll really have to do some character development for people to stay tuned. and more than just bobby's big secret is that he's rich.

I love the show and can relate really well to the main character. I love baseball, poker, beer and hanging out with my guy friends. PJ makes me feel right at home.

I, too, can truly relate to this show. As the only girl in a sports obessed family, I have no choice but to know all there is. PJ reminds me a lot of myself. You'd be surprised how many women there actually are like PJ.
