I am sooooo tired of hearing "That's not country enough, or you can't fake country by putting on a cowboy hat" who died and made John Rich the official judge on who and what denotes "country" Let's face it, he is the BIGGEST fake country singer there is! John just looks at these singers like they are bags of money to line his pockets. He does not care about anything other than that. Oh the hypocrisy, John's negative comments could equally be applied to him the Full length Fur coat wearing arriving in a helicopter fool. Nashville Star is an achey breaky fart!

Hey I got a thought, if you want it to sound more country let the contestants sing country songs!
Nashville Star is poor imitation of American Idol. John Rich is involved so he can line his pocket by exploitation of others talent.
It's not about heart for him it's all about the greenbacks. The more he opens his mouth the more his truth shows up.
Does he think we are all that naive? We know what we like, we don't need him telling us.

Hey, John. You really are a big man! It takes guts to jump on two teenage girls on national TV. You really let 'em have it, man! Made you look good, too! Anybody else probably would have done it the pansy way and just rebuked the girls off camera after last weeks show. Imagine that nasty little girl rolling her eyes at Jewel, just because she said another group of girls should have still been on the show instead of them. If I were the father of either of these girls, you would definitely have seen me after the show. I don't even know what you're doing judging a country talent show. I haven't heard you do anything yet that sounds country. For example: "Lost in This Moment With You". If Nashville hadn't gotten so screwed up by the powers that be, that song wouldn't be played on country radio. I will admit you have written or co-written some good country songs, but other people have sung them. To repeat what you told one of the contestants, just wearing a cowboy hat doesn't make you a country star. Maybe next year Nashville Star will have some real country judges on the show.

Last night's show was horrible. If i had been Sophie, i would have rolled my eyes at what Jewel said, also. All Jewel does is whine and encourage the contestants to be fake. Let the people sing. Critique their singing but quit asking them to purr like cats.

It seems John Rich is eating his words. His defense of Jewel and lambasting of young Sophie is just what he was complaining about a few weeks ago. If Jewel can dish it out to those very vunerable contestants, she should be able to handle an eye roll. Country music is a living, breathing entity that is again facing a cross roads. Will it be invaded by the Jewels, Jessica Simpsons, and Julanne Hough's who SUDDENLY have found their taste for country music, i.e. sales of country CDs or will it boot these pretenders out to make way for Melissa and Pearl Heart?

I think people have the right to disapprove of John Rich's comments... it does seem his head has grown in size, but you cannot comment about his talent. He is brilliant. I do not care that Shania Twain uses sex appeal to sell albums that I feel are an insult to most women... at the same time you cannot take away her talent and beauty. John Rich is talented -- he may be a "jerk," but he is a talented jerk! There is no real country today, look at Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, etc. But their music is the music that has led country music into a competitive salary range to rock and rap.

I think it is a commen consensus that John Rich has a "big head". To say he has no talent though shows ignorance. There are really no typical country singers today, but they are talented. Unfortunately, I see more winners of American Idol becoming top selling country artists than anyone from Nashville Star. There are alot of talent there, but I liked it better when it first came out.

I agree Jewel's comments were rude, I probably would have rolled my eyes too, but she does have a good voice and has been known to be a good writer. All though Nashville star is technically an AMerican Idol spin off, its still a show. As for John Rich's agenda, maybe he IS in it for the money only, Maybe he really cares about country music, or Maybe the earpieces in their ears were feeding them things to say. Ratings make or break a show, you want scandal or sweetness. the ratings decide the show. In the end its all "entertainment"
