The Madera County sheriff said today that search teams have found the wreckage of missing adventurer Steve Fossett's airplane.

This guy is still alive. His wife collected the life-insurance policy and he has convieniently disappeared into Mexico or Canada.

I think the guys alive, I think he parachuted out of the plane and planted those items for people to find. He may have gotten tired of his life and the pressure it brought and decided to live a much calmer and simplier life somewhere else. I think if his family looks hard enough they might find the clues.

I believe, he is on his way to Mars. he didn't need money and got new ID from area 51....last great adventure? for the adventurer. yes, he parachuted. I would like to think that... it is my ruminations....and answer to a lot of missing people....IMO

The Mammoth Times reported that the wreckage was found at 10,000 ASL just east of the Minarets. I know these mountains very well, and I find it hard to believe that the plane wasn't spotted before. There are frequent backpackers camping and hiking near the lakes below the Minarets, although the area is very rugged and remote. The weather can change on a dime in those mountains too, so this could be the reason he ran into trouble.

He killed himself. Flew into the side of a mountain and shattered to pieces. A mountain lion or bear dragged the bottom of his torso and pants some distance away to consume it.
