Nice article Owen. Its all true and jazz music is alive and well if not in an ever lasting struggle for survival. We jazz musicians are strong and up to the task.

Too bad Owen didn't deign to mention the continuing, long-standing jazz fests held in ct the last 15 years and more:
Hot Steamed Jazz Fest in Essex every June.
The Great CT. Jazz Fest in Moodus in August.
Although they each draw several thousand attendees,they get short shrift and few reviews in the Courant.
