I thought 'Vegas' was an incredible episode, especially for Joe Flanigan. I feel this epidode showed off his talent as an accomplished actor. He was able to step into the shoes of a character who, on the surface, was nothing like LTC John Sheppard. A lost man drifting through life with no real purpose. Only when he met Dr. Rodney McKay did the deep inner strength and character of LTC Sheppard rise. The transition was gradual and satisfying. I found myself watching anxiously as Det. John Sheppard quietly reached out and grabbed the hope Dr. McKay so casually tossed him. He was going to run with the money, disappear, but he kept thinking of everything he saw and heard while in Area 51. And he did the right thing, resulting in allegedly losing his life as a hero...just as LTC John Sheppard would have done.

I thought 'Vegas' was the perfect lead-in for the last episode. You're not even aware of it until you actually watch the last episode and get the connection. I was completely taken by Joe Flanigan's performance in 'Vegas'. I hate that Stargate Atlantis was canceled but I have high hopes that someone will be smart enough to snatch Joe Flanigan and star him in another well written and entertaining series. Anyone know what Joe Flanigan is currently doing?
