Allen West: Democrats Are 'Afraid of Black Conservatives'

Friday, 17 Aug 2012 08:22 AM
By Greg McDonald

Rep. Allen West lashed out Thursday against what he described as race baiting by Democrats determined to defeat his re-election bid this year and keep Mitt Romney out of the White House.

Speaking with Fox News' Sean Hannity, the Florida Republican described a super PAC ad depicting him punching white women as racist because it portrays him as what he characterized as a “stereotypical” violent, black male.

“It has me with a gold tooth. And I think you can see from my smile, I don't have a gold tooth,” West told Hannity.“I think that that is quite stereotypical. And then of course having me as an African-American male, punching a white senior woman and then another white woman, that is definitely not in concert with the values that I stand for.”

The ad being run by a political action committee in support of his Democratic challenger Patrick Murphy goes after West for “voting to end Medicare as we know it,” cutting women's healthcare, and supporting a GOP budget that “has mauled middle-class families.”

“I don’t believe in violence against women. But this is what happens, Sean, when you’re in the age of [President Barack] Obama and the age [of ] the liberal progressives,” West told Hannity.“You cannot talk about the issues, they cannot run on any type of record, you cannot talk about the economy, the debt, and deficit.

“So these are the type of attacks against your character, the lies that they put out there,” he added.

West also recalled the attacks from Democrats after he made a speech kicking off his re-election campaign earlier this year, in which he said the growth in the nation's food stamp program was “a new form of enslavement.”

“Of course, everyone on the left went absolutely idiotic and tried to condemn me about bringing up the specter of slavery. You know, it’s ... hypocrisy,” West said.

He also noted that if Romney’s GOP running mate Paul Ryan had said what Vice President Joe Biden did about Republican policies putting black Americans “back in chains,” the Democrats would have gone “absolutely apoplectic.”

West said he believes the Democrats and the Obama campaign have adopted a strategy to go after “black conservatives” in the Republican Party, including Condoleezza Rice and others because “we intimidate them.”

“They’re afraid of us because there are more of us that are able to stand up on our own and talk about the failures of liberal progressive policies, especially toward the black community,” West said.“They ... definitely don’t want to have individuals that can stand up on their own.”

West said Democrats are playing the race card because “they want to make sure that they get that large voting electorate out there from the different communities.”

“They look at us as collectives, not as individuals,” he continued.“And you have to understand that this is going to continue to happen. And the president emanating from Chicago, it's all about Chicago-style politics, it's about fear and intimidation, it's about lies and deceit."

Obama defends Biden comment but nation’s first black governor doesn’t
Posted by Sean Sullivan
August 16, 2012
President Obama defended Vice President Biden’s “chains” remarks in an interview with People magazine Wednesday, while Douglas Wilder, the country’s first elected African-American governor since Reconstruction, has accused Biden of making a race-based appeal.
At issue is a comment Biden made at a campaign rally in southern Virginia on Tuesday. The vice president said that presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s approach to financial regulation will “put ya’ll back in chains.” Biden made the remark in front of a racially mixed audience that included African Americans.
Wilder, the former Democratic governor of Virginia, took a different view.
“First of all, without question they were appeals to race,” Wilder told CNN on Wednesday.“The important thing I got out of this was Biden separated himself from what he accused the people of doing. As a matter of fact, what he said is they are going to do something to y’all, not to me. Not us. So he was still involved with that separate American.”
- OUCH!-
Wilder echoed his view in interviews with Fox News and AP.“You can forgive people for gaffes, but there comes a time when you realize you’re forgiving the same guy for making the same mistakes,” he told AP.
- OUCH!-
Wilder is the first Democrat to offer such a harsh rebuke to Biden. Most other Democrat Lack the Integrity to point out the obvious Racist and Divisive comments by the Obama admins Vice President.

AP Political Writer,
By BOB LEWIS,
Wednesday, August 15, 2012

RICHMOND, Va.(AP)— The nation's first elected black governor, Virginia's L. Douglas Wilder, lambasted Vice President Joe Biden on national television Wednesday for his remark to a largely black crowd about banks keeping people "in chains."

Wilder, a Democrat and a grandson of slaves, echoed indignant denunciations from Republicans, including presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney, that Biden's comment at a Tuesday rally in Danville, Va., injected race into the presidential contest.

In warning that the Republican ticket would roll back President Barack Obama's regulations reining in banks and investment firms after the 2008 stock market meltdown, Biden said Romney intended to "unchain Wall Street."

Then, Biden added, "they're going to put y'all back in chains."

"Without question they were appeals to race," Wilder told CNN.

"And if you don't argue with that, then you understand that, then the next question is why?

Why do you feel you need to do that?

But the more important thing that I got out of this was Biden separated himself from what he accused the people of doing. As a matter of fact what he said is, they are going to do something to y'all, not to me, not us. So he was still involved with that separate America. And I'm sick and tired of being considered something other than an American."

Yep. The santorum is still dripping. LOL

BTW WE used the term first.

Here’s what Congressman Ryan said. He said,‘We believe a renewed commitment to limited government will unshackle our economy.’ The Speaker of the House said, used the word ‘unshackled’ as well, referring to their proposals. The last time these guys unshackled the economy, to use their term, they put the middle class in shackles. That’s how we got where we are.

It doesn't matter. The election is going the way it should go. Obama-Biden didn't get the job done so we have to elect Romney-Ryan. You watch. I bet my last tax dollar that the day after Romney is sworn in as President, the nasty maggots will be saying, "Where are the jobs, Romney. You promised jobs. Where are the jobs!!" They are so predictable.

Obama made President Bush look like a political genius. President Bush is smarter, more politically savvy, a better Commander in Chief, and he gave all of us confidence in the future. The last 3 1/2 years have been constant chaos. Finally we will get the grown ups back in office.
