Well then, how about real numbers from an actual report that even the Liberal rags are publishing?

Ah...so it's up to the President to take infrastructure money out of his travel budget, not, say, the Pentagon to lose $100 million - or $100 billion - for such spending?

You're a partisan idiot.

read the article:

Presidential trips to foreign countries tend to be expensive in any administration: According to the Post, former President Bill Clinton's 1998 trip to Africa racked up a bill of at least $42.7 million, not including what were likely significant Secret Service costs. For his part, former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, took two trips to Africa in 2003 and 2008, involving significant resources as well. But the also paper reports that, due to "a confluence of factors," Mr. Obama's three-country trip could be "one of the most expensive" of his presidency.

"Obama's trip could cost the federal government $60 million to $100 million based on the costs of similar African trips in recent years, according to one person familiar with the journey, who was not authorized to speak for attribution," according to the Post.

so it COULD cost $60-$100 million, but nobody knows for sure...and it's for political reasons...and other recent Presidents have taken similar trips, Bush doing so TWICE.

So again...what's the deal here?

I think that CBS is starting to make a strong case against the 'liberal media' claim by Righties...

Did we see such articles about the Bush visits, or Clinton's?

That's all I'm asking. If the media makes a point of this every time a President makes such a trip, fine. If it's suddenly a problem with Obama, than it's partisan. Sorry.

$60 million isn't $100 million.

PS: It costs money to move the POTUS around the globe. He isn't on vacation.

Everybody in Government needs to tighten the belt, make sacrifices. Just because he has a gazillion dollars unrealistically "budgeted" for travel, does not mean he has to spend it. It should be spent wisely for important stuff. If he wants to travel on his own dime wtih money he has earned, then that is fine by me. The Pentagon/Military Industrial complex needs to be reigned in too, I agree with that. The Marines just got a big black eye for the Camp Pendleton guns 'n gear 'n drug ring, selling stolen military vehicles, weapons and gear, trading drugs etc.

The POTUS has to travel to the rest of the world on a regular basis.

Grow up.

The President is OUR representative, and travels on a government budget. He's not on vacation, as has been pointed out. Even when he IS on vacation, he's not on vacation.

Who are you to say his trip is "unwise" or in any way unnecessary?

The whole thing's ridiculous. Just partisan hoo-ha.

The old shell game of finding the pebble under the shell is
the time honored game of buying votes with false promises of
something for nothing. This game has been carried to an
extreme that our founders would make them turn over in
their graves. It is long past time to go back to basic math--
If the numbers balances(correct numbers)it is correct---if it
doesn't it's Wrong wrong

Government isn't a business or family, it's finances are not required to balance. Most of our history, we've run a deficit of one kind or another, so do most countries. We ran a HUGE deficit during WWII and came out smelling like roses.

No profit motive - no balance - no worries

Subject deficits
well Professoooor-after World War II we did not have the huge
government largess that we have today---the dollar was King and
One could buy a lot more things than the dollar of today
In case you missed it their are many areas of government
that are run like a business---Parks,parts of Research facilities
and programs like the Space Program that create new revenue
streams -- jobs(if their profits are not skimmed off to support
those programs that you seem to be so fond of)
tell us Professooooooor what happens when your credit card
maxes out??????????

Uh, the dollar thing is called "inflation." You also get PAID a lot more than you did then. And FDR had already put a number of government programs into place.

"Parks, parts of Research facilities and the space program?" Baloney. Parks are maintained and may or may not add to government revenues, but they're not "for profit." Reseach from government is often given away to private business, which makes the profits instead. The space program creates side benefits and patents which probably end up in private hands as well.

The comment about my credit card "maxing out" is just what I was talking about - ignorance about how government works as opposed to business or my private household. Governments simply don't HAVE "credit cards which max out."
