I have always owned guns and hopefully always will, but if it was possible {and I believe it would| to save just one innocent childs life I would forfeit that right.
I have asked this question numerous times, if I knew that the banning of assult type weapons would save my child and 25 of her classmates would I align with the ban? Yes.
Would you?
All American citizens are the "militia" that the Framers referred tp in the 2nd Amendment. They didn't say that only soldiers in a standing army and the local constabulary could bear some kinds of arms but Joe Militiaman can't. "Well regulated" means "well armed."

Seriously? What page of liberal talking points for dummies is that on? Do you know how many times that tired question has been asked on here?
Why don't you look to US vs. Miller for that?
And I will contine to "use this liberal talking point" due to the simple fact is so revelent when considering the 2nd.

Bottom line, without control there are no boundaries.

You conservatives keep bringing up high crime areas, what if those areas were using grenade launchers, automatic weapons, rocket lauchers, etc.? Not only would more innocent people, police, etc. die, but a complete break down in social contol become rampant util this nation would resemble some of the worst third world countries.

Would you rather be attacked with a blunt instrument or miliary type weapon with a thirty round magazine? I've been attacked with a knife and with a high powewred rifle, and let me assure you I will choose the knife every time.
Really, let me hit you in the head with a bat, and put that to the test.

So an unarmed teacher is going to run past an assailant in a doorway, that's wielding a bat? Or slow him down? Or stop him?

It matters not to me. I'm shooting back either way. I don't frequent gun free zones, so the chances of facing a deranged gunman is vastly reduced.

I agree to a point, but when "well armed" becomes more detrimental to safety then controls have to be instituted.

I realize one needs protection but there are much better wepons for home protection than a semi-automatic military type weapons which are chosen by gun nuts mass school shootings in a majority of cases

Why wouldn't you arm the law abiding citizens in those areas that have proven strict gun control leads to more gun violence?
You ignore the facts, and focus on making the gun control stricter.

Nope, not when the opponet has a high powered weapon. Have you ever heard the old saying "do not bring a knife to a gun fight". You also sometimes can outrun a knife, but you can't outrun a slug of lead.

And when a biker gang decides you pissed them off? 30 rounds sounds pretty good.
When a herd of hogs are bearing down on you, 30 rounds sounds pretty good.
When the US Government decides dictatorship is easier than democracy, 30,000 rounds sounds pretty good.

Absolutly some teachers would stop, slow down or scream for assistance to a nut with a bat. In fact a majority of people would be more aggressive with an opponet with a bat than one with an assult weapon.

A bat compared to a assult type weapon if you do not realize how absoltely ridiculus that statement is, then you attempt to hit me in the head all the while me holding a high powered weapon, and lets see who would survive in the majority of attempts. Or even to a lesser degree me without a weapon I will survive more often while being attacked with a bat than a military type weapon.

Here we go, and who is that dictator going to have for backup? Our finest {military}?

I just purchased a KKK pamplet {circa 1936} where the NRA had a full page ad bragging about how they were the NRA's proudest promoter. You know what they were spouting then, buy more guns, buy more guns because your government is coming after you. Pure Anti-America profitable propaganda! Now after all these years and billions of dollars spent by paranoid individuals they are still preaching the same anti-American profitable propaganda!

Be interesting to know stats on how many bikers and pigs will come after one compared to babies killed by assult type weapons.

These mass killings, exception Gabbie Arizona, take place in locations where guns are banned: School shootings, and Aurora shooter had choice of 7 theaters showing same movie but chose the only one that had sign posted forbidding citizens to carry guns.

An armed citizenry makes a positive difference.

We need more guns, not less, and mental health needs to be addressed again. It is long overdue since Ronald Reagan turned the mentally ill out into the streets by closing facilities that treated them. Society is paying the price for Reagan's shortsightedness.

Yes. Exactly. If we are infringed to the point of single shots, it will happen a lot faster than if we have modern semi auto rifles.

Thanks for the history lesson. Bit what you fail to realize is this, right wrong or otherwise, we have fewer freedoms today than in 1936. So obviously, not enough people listened back then, or if they did, they failed to pass it along to their children and grandchildren.

So the number of deaths must be equal to warrant not infringing on US Citizens' second amendment rights? Who made up that rule? All this gun control frothing at the mouth, when its mental health issues that need to be addressed, if any change is to be expected.

I live in Kennesaw GA. This town is a testament to less gun violence when everyone owns a gun. For those of you who don't know, Kennesaw Georgia has an ordinance requiring every head of household to own a gun and ammo and keep it in the house. The gun law heard round the world when it was first enacted in 1982!

Compare it to ANY other town you want. We have over 33,000 here and odds are we have less violent crimes per capita than any Ohio town.

Gangs commit 48% of violent crime. Apparently the mentally ill commit a good portion of it as well. Here's a novel idea, enforce the laws we have and actually punish the criminals. And work on legislation to address mental health failures, rather than stripping the law abiding of their rights and freedoms.

I agree to a point, but list for me the last time that a deranged or "sane" shooter killed with a point of his finger.

"We have fewer freedoms now" I disagree when was the last time an American Military Man returnming from the front line battleground was hung in front of his family with his uniform still being worn because he was told to sit in the back of a bus

My opinion, I see and act as if I live in the greatest nation on this rock, sure we have small problems, and yes, I say small due to the simple fact we could be living in a uncivillized third world country where law is enforced by gun nuts who will kill for the one who pays them the most.

I now see gun extremist walking around our streets with their military type weapons slung over their shoulders. The only difference in this picture from a African nation is their clothing or apparel.

We do not need more of these military type weapons
on our streets, America already have over 50% of weapons on this planet.

Gun nut mentality "more guns will lessen crime"!
