New gun laws will only effect legal owners who abide by the laws. The criminals and nuts will continue to ignore them.

Best change in gun laws would be to eliminate Gun-Free-Zones. It seems this outrage is actually getting some to seriously think about the obvious solution of permitting (vetted)school staff to carry defensive weapons...whodathunkit!

We pay men with guns to protect cash. And we pay thousands of TSA agents to grope, threaten and abuse us. Surely there's money to arm at-least one protective agent at every school. When someone starts shooting, waiting even minutes for cops to arrive is too-late.

That's not what the evidence shows.

"Strict gun control laws absolutely have led to fewer deaths in other countries."

Researchers under the supervision of Joan Ozanne-Smith of Monash University studied firearm-related deaths over a 22-year period in Australia, finding a notable drop in deaths (especially suicides) after the country implemented strict gun control laws in the late '80s and mid-'90s.

The Medical University of Vienna's Nestor D. Kapusta and colleagues noticed similar trends when Austria got tough on gun control in 1997. A number of variables make the U.S. different than these nationsóbut in Austria and Australia, RESEARCH SHOWS THAT DEATHS HAVE BEE PREVENTED BY GUN CONTROL.

I checked your link. It's a web site done by a lobbyist.

They're trying to sell something. That's not a credible source of information

So, I take it you do not agree it is better to have and not need, than to need and not have. You believe it is better for children and their teachers to cower helplessly while a maniac is gunning them down. Just so we all understand your mindset.

Gun laws do nothing to thwart insane people from carrying out horrors. Gun laws do nothing to stop determined criminals who flout any and all laws. Gun laws hamstring honest, normal citizens with negligible effect on criminals and the insane. Armed citizens have stopped or lessened the toll of shootings by merely showing a gun; statistics on this are few b/c it goes unreported in many cases, and is under reported b/c the media is biased.

It is clearly shameful, heartless and foolhardy to deny potential victims of their right to self defence. Parents and school administrators in Israel care more about their kids than we do.
