Here we go again time to focus on gun control (which does not work to stop school shootings) instead on mental health and school security (which has proven to work to stop school shootings.)

The gun control nuts must think that they sprinkle a little fairy dust in the air, waive a magic wand, pass an assault weapons ban and all the bad guns will go away.

In the real world nothing works all the time, good school security works, good safety plans work, student talking to teachers and parents about what they see and hear going on at school works. Gun control does not work, we had an assault weapons ban for 10 years, during that 10 years 160 people were shot at school, 72 of them died and I did not count the partial year when the law sunset-ted.

It's not the guns, it's the drugs. The common theme continues.

The people that go on shooting rampages like this all have something in common. They are on some form of prescription mind altering drug. Usually a form of antidepressants.

Let's go through the listing here and look at this common theme.

Columbine 1999. Both shooters were on the anti-depressant Prozac.

Nidal Hassan Fort Hood 2009. Hassan was an Army shrink that was going to be deployed to Afghanistan. Suffering from depression and anxiety about going to war, Hassan began self prescribing anti-depressants.

James Holmes Aurora CO 2012. It has not be opened that Holmes was on some kind of drugs yet. He was seeing a shrink, if the courts in CO would open his medication file to the public we would know. However, big pharma is spending alot of money on lawyers and filing counter suits to keep those files closed. My opinion, look at the guy, add in the fact he was seeing a shrink, plus no job, and that his father worked for DARPA. More than likely, on something.

Adam Lanza Sandy Hook Elementary 2012. It has come out that Lanza was on a drug called Fanapt. A psycotic drug with very bad side effects. Fanapt was rejected by the FDA due to its side effects, however, with a lot of bribes (aka lobbying funds) Fanapt was pushed through for mass production.

Seung-Hui Cho Virginia Tech 2007. Diagnosed with an anxiety order, was given a prescription for Paroxetine which is an antidepressants.

Tim McVeigh prior to being blamed for blowing up a building (this could still be argued) was on Aprazolam who's trade name is..........wait for it..........Xanax another antidepressant.

So looking over a common theme here, one could say that these mind altering drugs are the problem. Not the guns. Put a gin down and do not touch it. Who is that gun going to kill? Nobody.

However, a gun in the hand of a person who has had his brain chemistry adjusted due to a prescritpion drug. Look out.

Look people, the government cannot protect. They cannot keep you safe. Things are going to happen in the world. The only person that can keep you and your family safe is yourself. There is only one way that government can protect you. And that is from inside of a jail cell. That's it.

So are you willing to be a prisoner for your government to keep you safe? Only you can answer that question.

As for me. I foresee and a concealed weapons permit in my very near future.

Treating symptom and not the cause. It will make some feel better but the disease wil continue until dealt with in a responsible way which must include education, training, and changing behaviors, not further infringments of Constitutional rights which makes ALL of us losers except the bad guys..

Actually it still comes down to how we deal with mental illness. Most of those you mentioned were stable while on their medications but resorted to violent acts when not taking their drugs.

It is too easy to go to any physician and get whatever drugs one wants. There must be a better method of dealing with mental illness. Society begins to make treatment more acceptable by removing the taboo from mental illness and seeing it just like any other sickness. Beyond that, facilities are needed to house and treat the mentally ill, and with dignity and compassion, same as for any disease. Where individuals are a threat to themselves and others, for the interest of society, it must be required of them to accept help.

The people you mentioned were known to be menatally unstable and in need of professional observation and treatment and should have been kept away from guns, but just the opposite was true. Columbine kids, Newtown shooter, Hassan too, had no oversight on their acquiring, keeping and having access to guns.

The people who look the other way must also be held liable.

The Newtown mom realized the problem with her son---she even secured knives in Tupperware container and took them away from the house with her, but she failed to keep guns away from a person in her house whom she knew to be mentally unstable. She even continued to take him to shooting range.

Columbine parents looked the other way even though they saw the signs.

2171 service men dies this year protecting our constitutional rights.
None of their names where called out on tv by our president. or any major tv news media.
The president did not go to any of the families’ homes or funerals.
Why are there deaths treated lesser than a child’s? There blood is the same color.
not one serviceman was ever killed by an assault weapon. All were killed by people.
And by the way an assault weapon is a made up word by the media.
Ww2 the germans had what they called a storm rifle.
The next time you sheeple want to shred the constitution remember all the brave men and woman who died for it. any who are in active service took an oath to uphold the constitution including the president.

We are stuck with a stupid president, thank libertards.

Obama's handelers are directing him through the teleprompter to BLAME GUNS!!

You see IF the discussion ever changes to BLAME SCHOOL SECURITY then questions will arise regarding Obama and Congress CUTTING school security spending in 2010.

IF the focus ends up on school spending cuts it will become a real mess for Obama, much like Benghazi. Hillery has a headache, can't testify, oh darn!!

You guys got any good jokes?
