Seinfeld, Gates Microsoft Ads Yanked

Full story: NBC 4 Washington, DC

Now you see those Microsoft TV commercials starring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld -- and now you don't. The ads have disappeared from the airwaves and the reason why is a matter of dispute.

The first Gates/Sienfeld ad seemed silly, but the second viewing of it and the second ad actually made me laugh...too
bad. They were memorable, which if I remember from my many
years in advertising, is the name of the game. "Doesn't matter
if it's good or bad, as long as they remember your name." This campaign would make people take notice of the long missing name of Microsoft in the young vibrant market.

I don't know why they yanked them--I thought they were funny! It was cool to see someone like Bill Gates, who seems like more of a legend than a real guy, doing a commercial and acting silly. It kind of gave him a personality and a tangible quality.

I must be in the minority because I thought these commercials stunk like three day old fish sitting out in the sun. Thank God they are off the air

THEY WERE STUPID AND RIDICULUS COMERCIALS ANYWAYS. WHO COULD EVER BELIEVE THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO BE MORE TOUCH LIKE REGULAR PEOPLE???? I THOUGHT THE COMMERICIALS WERE A SNOBBY/FAKE AND WOULD TURN OFF REGULAR CONSUMERS FROM USING MICROSOFT PRODUCTS... MAYBE THE CANCELED THE COMMERCIAL BECAUSE THEY HAD A SUDDEN DECREASE IN SALES... WHO KNOWS??

I loved these commercials. I can't believe people may have been offended by them. This was a great opportunity to see a casual side of Bill Gates - like it or not, he's not a regular person as far as how he can afford to live.

The commercials were horrible Jerry Seinfeld is not funny on TV without Larry David....After watching Curve Your Enthusiasm I look at Seinfeld in a whold new light and realize that Larry was the start not Jerry.

Ad agency creatives view themselves as superior types who look down on ordinary people and think that portraying people as dumb, tasteless simpletons is funny. I thought this campaign was awful and I hope the creators get fired.

All of their ad's are lousy. I am not liking the "Vista" one either. Please get an imagine Microsoft if you are expecting us to watch, get interested, explore then buy.

It looks like a lot of people have strange senses of humor...judging by the crap on TV nowadays it's not surprise.

I personally will not miss these horribly unfunny ads.

I thought those ads were hilarious. It made Jerry and Bill seem like real people, not just the moguls they really are. I especially liked the underwear "adjustment" one.

I don't know what the purpose of them was, although they somewhat reminded me of Paris Hilton and her BFF.

I'll be sorry to see them go. However, I do have one question, just what do Jerry and Bill have in common??????
