I can't decide between Biggie Smalls and Lil' Wayne. While Biggie is undoubtedly one of the most prolific storytellers of all time, he wasn't as versatile as some of his peers. via

personally...hurrican chris,dj unk, basically a one hit or 2 hit wonder. 50 Cent isnt a rapper...he's a singer. Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, Mase, Diddy, Snoop album doesnt constitute greatness.

First of all it depends on the criteria you use to determine..What is the best? is selling the most records make you the best? King nas has a good idea about, although I like lil boosie and t.i. and will bump dj unk and shit, if your lookin for talent, Lil Wayne by far takes the cake as being the best, 90% of his shit is off the top of his head, hes about the only rapper who actually made it to college, Hes smart he knows music and he knows how rap

Man, is this what hip hop has evolved to? It must be some really young kids on here posting these answers. Let's get one thing straight, Jay Z mentored Lil Wayne and taught him how to write songs. So for all of you screaming that Jay Z sucks, Well Lil Wayne sucks too, cause he coached him. Nas? get real, Nas is a lyrcist up and down. He probably sucks to people cause he too deep for them. If it's not a song banging in the club talking about stuntin or ballin then the rapper sucks to you all. You must look at lyrical content. Now, back to Jay Z, he is a lyrical genius. You have to sit and listen to him. A lot of you on here probably have never heard Reasonable Doubt, his first album. Yeah his new stuff is kind of suspect, but you have to realize, he's not hungry anymore. The man is worth a half billion dollars. Do you really think he's that concerned with rapping anymore? He got a whole lot of other things on his plate. 50 cent is overrated, only reason he's gotten to where he is, is because of Dre's beats. Damn, somebody said Biggie. Yo, if you think Biggie overrated then you need to keep on listening to that popcorn music that's on the radio now. Cause that's all it is, hip hop no longer has any content to it. It's all about how much you ballin or how much money you got. Hell, I can do that all day. But question is, can you talk about anything else? Yeah Biggie and Jay did it, but they also talked about other things. TI, yeah he's overrated, but it's just something I really like about that dude. His attitude and presentation is contagious. He always seems like he's having fun when you see him perform, and he brings a lot of energy to the crowd. Chamillionaire is terrible. 2pac, I would be remisce if I didn't mention him. Pac wasn't a great lyricst, but damnit he spoke from the heart about real things. You can't tell me you listen to Dear Mama and not get chills whenever you hear it, unless you don't love your Mama. I mean, come on now, that's ghetto mama love at it's best. Everytime I hear it, makes me wanna call my moms. He was a great story teller, and spoke about real things. Brenda's got a baby was a powerful song. It spoke about the problems that exist in our commmunity, still till this day. I have always liked him, and I don't think he was overrated. DMX is nice with it. Like King Nas said, It's Dark and Hell is Hot album will open your eyes.

I'd say guys like lil' jon (is he even a rapper?), Lil' Wheezy is good, but best rapper alive? I could name several better than him. Jay-Z made a huge mistake releasing Kingdom Come; he was just garbage on it. Fiddy after the Massacre; he was actually pretty good before G-Unit and the money got into his head. All the no-talent hacks out there; you know who you are. Eve is now garbage; tambourine? WTF? Jermaine Dupri and all of his crew; a bunch of teens that made him look like a gay R. Kelly. Ditto for Bad Boy and Puffy/P. Diddy/Diddy whatever.
