Thank you,'George', for that helpful IRS link.
According to that link, IRS Publication No. 526, "Charitable Contributions", on PDF pg. 2,
states:
"NOT Deductible as Charitable Contributions"
"Value of your time or services"

REPEAT for the benefit of Lides:
The value of one's time or services is NOT deductible!

Looks like JT is gonna have to be cutting an actual check to the BSO.
Will The Berkshire Eagle be requesting to see a copy of the cancelled $500,000 check?
Oooo, we couldn't do that, after all, how could anyone doubt Sweet Baby James?
Yeah, right!

bri-bri, just think, if you had bought them on stub, that would mean $60 more jt coulda donated!!!!!
jt's a washed up low life ****!
if it was a true donation he would have let the people in for free so he could send his message!!!
dum-dum, when you buy tickets on stubhub.com to sold-out events you are buying from an individual seller. The seller's profit is the difference between what you pay and the face value, minus a hefty commission to stubhub. It's a form of on-line scalping.

Yo-Yo Ma and Sheryl Crow, two other well-known subversives, will perform with James Taylor on Saturday. Too bad you won't be joining us for the festivities. I'll bet the entertainment on A Saturday in Morrison CO is a six pack, some porn, and some baby lotion.
Have fun.

Read the recent article by Clarence & I think you all may have a different out look on the Taylor's as a whole and be grateful that they are part of our community, & good neighbors to have.

How do you know he's not? How do you know he doesnt already give to the food banks.
Just because this made the news doesnt mean he doesnt also donate to other local causes. Music is the mans life, its what has made him a star, of course he wants to support it.
Its his money, let him do what he wants with it.
How do I know, because it says he is donating it to the BSO. Considering his past with women, the dude needs to just keep donating every cent to abused women's shelters.

In order for a fee to be donated, the participant must:
First be paid
Pay all income taxes on said fee.
Then donate monies back to the NFP in the form of a check (or cash with a receipt but this is actually a red flag for deductions)
The claim the amount of money donated as the deduction.
Donations of "services" are NOT allowed under US Tax code. They can't say "Ohh we were going to pay him $500K and he said keep it." Signed contracts mean nothing, it is the IRS tax filing that does.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Gemini

The lively Leo Moon makes this great day for doing something sociable, Gemini. Now if it's festive as well, then so much the better. You'll enjoy mingling with friends, neighbors and loved ones, and will even get the chance to smooth over recent problems with a certain someone. It's a big effort to get on well with everyone, but it will be all the more appreciated.
