I really don't like Carville, and surely do not support his politics at all, but James Carville is absolutely correct on this one.

Just think about Katrina, and the two main levees separating Lake Ponchartrain from the City of New Orleans, full 27 feet lower in elevation... the Corps of Engineers, in their infinite wisdom ( and, in fairness to them, following policy dictum laid down by federal statutes), followed cost-benefit construction feasibility guidelines to build these levees only to a Category 2 hurricane freeboard, KNOWING FULL WELL A CAT. 5 HURRICANE WOULD EVENTUALLY HAPPEN.

The system is broke. It needs fixing. Why do we pay federal legislators to work when they can't fix the routine work that they lay out for agencies. A federal flood control project should not take 20 years to approve, but it does. As it applies to the Gulf, and emergency permit should be expedited, if not granted outright without delay.

Let me ask the obvious... if the A-Whale is a failure, what is lost in trying?

Whatever happened to Kevin Costner's oil filtering machines? Do they work? The last I heard was that BP was purchasing a bunch of them to help out in the cleanup.
Just saw on the news today. BP has ordered 35 of them. They have supposedly passed every test and they do work. Just waiting for government approval. My thinking is that unless they do more harm then good, and BP is paying for them, that the government needs to keep out of it and let them start working.

why is the oil still spilling into the gulf. how come all these high paid engeineers cant stop it. because the government told them not to. an engineer should have already figured out what to do but apparently the obama government has other ideas. natioalize all the oil companies. socialism here we come. cant wait till 2012. get them all out.!!!!!
"why is the oil still spilling into the gulf."

The oil is still spilling because it isn't easy to cap a well that is a mile below the sea level.

But the spilled oil is ruining the Gulf shores because Obama is an idiot who is too busy holding parties in the White House to do his job.
