paternalism? maternalism?

Does it bother anyone that we haven't seen John McCain without his wife attached at the hip since the primaries began? It bothers me because his paternalistic treatment of Sarah Palin echos his "protective" attitude toward women. And we do not need that image. Palin tries to appear "feisty", but she always returns to bow at the altar of John McCain in the little we have heard from her.

If she is so capable, cut her loose and let us see how she handles herself.
