Gloria, ignore this guy. If he won't shut it; he can talk to himself. Even if he could even find something different to say other than this homosexual agenda propaganda this would great. Is there even such a thing? I really have little idea what hes referring to. And yeah, if you are gay...whatever. I think he might be gay...probably likes alittle "ass raping". |

I'm a heterosexual woman who is not ashamed to say this movie is truly the best movie I've ever seen. I'm looking at the movie from the standpoint of LOVE and thats what this movie shows best. Jake's character was protrayed perfectly, showing the intense loneliness and longing he felt for another person. A person that because of people like you he had to hide from. The Love of one another is what is important - living a lie shouldn't be whats viewed as acceptable. I do have one gay male friend whom I cherish his friendship everyday. His partner in Love is a great guy whom he loves very much - I'm happy for my friend - why can't guys like you be happy for him too?? He's found his soul-mate and is the happiest I've ever seen him! Brokeback Mountain touched both our hearts - we cried together.

I see they removed his negative comments - GOOD - maybe he'll find somewhere else to post his crap!
|
||||
Please find somewhere else to vent your hatred - not here on Jake's forum. Jake as an actor was brilliant in protraying Jack Twist. This forum should be about praising his abilities to shine like a star in one of Hollywoods most beautiful films. If you had any class at all you'd just go bash your beliefs elsewhere. |

My Oscar vote for best actor goes to Heath Leger whose potrayal of Ennis moved me to tears. Despite Ennis' cool exterior, he was floored by his uncontrollable passion for Jake mindful of the consequences he would suffer - alienation, loneliness, angst, guilt. And this comes from a confused bisexual who was really gay at heart without the ability to articulate his love nor the moral courage to move on. But he risked all for that one shining moment - the Brokeback Mountain motif -which encapsulates the Edenic myth of lost innocence and the implausible grasp of forbidden love. He was a beautiful loser but one can't help feeling for him long after the film faded from view if only to hold him and say ' swear it again Ennis!'........Thank you Heath for that magnificent performance: you deserve my Oscar!

My vote goes to the movie, Jack, Heath, and Ang Lee. What a beautiful story.
You know I saw the movie twice and being a philosopher by nature have found so many meanings it had at one point become twisted with much confusion. After some time I desire to see the movie again and will. Please someone tell me. At the end of the movie Ennis buttons Jack's shirt, straighten's the picture on the closet door and says, "Jack, I swear." What does that last line mean to you? |

Wow, Gloria...I was wondering why i didn't see any of Heterodefenders comments anymore. Great. He was making me ill...what a creep.

Gloria, I posted 14 hours ago and no one has answered my question. What does the last line of the movie mean? "Jack, I swear."
If you have an inkling of an idea I would like to read it. As Ennis buttons the button it delivers a message of affecton and caring, his straightening of the picture appears to put Ennis life in persepctive and is clear to him. But that last line I can't fit. It is haunting me. I'm sure it has to do with Ennis quiet unspoken love which continues to exit. Thanks, Jim |

In my opinion Ennis put his shirt over Jack's to signify that hes sheltering him. I think the I swear is a I won't forget you and a swear to always hold dear the love they had. The shirt being reversed from the way he found it is a key part. It was Jacks shirt over his when he found it - showing Jacks sense of holding Ennis close - Now it is Ennis's turn to hold Jack close.
He touched the postcard and fixed its postion on the door and claimed to never forget there love by saying Jack - I swear. It also could signify that Jack will be his only Lover - showing Jack a sense of comfort and trust! |

Thanks gkwinsic - some people think my theory is wrong but its seems the most fitting to me...loved the film yet the ending could have been a little more expressive.
|
||||
I thought it was painful in the end. |

Gloria, Thanks, I think you are on target. Ennis last statement had me stumped. But now it makes all the sense in my world. You're a great gal! Jim
