From Babylon to Little Italy, Italian-Americans with a connection to the Abruzzo region desperately reached out Tuesday to learn the fate of relatives after an earthquake devastated the village of L'Aquila. Italy's government said it had not yet decided what help it needed, but in Italian and non-Italian neighborhoods across Long Island , would-be ... Read more

A great story like this will not make news outside of New York. Unfortunatly, people in Australia like myself will not know about the loving gesture of the Italian people outside of Italy. A real shame.

The soldiers of Italy were some of the few that stood by our miliarty personnel in Iraq and Afdganistan.

Every American should remember that and send a donation to help this "True NATO allie re-build.

"32 Italian troops have been killed in Iraq – with the greatest single loss of life coming on November 12, 2003 – a suicide car bombing of the Italian Carabinieri Corps HQ left a dozen Carabinieri, five Army soldiers, two Italian civilians, and eight Iraqi civilians dead."

Why should we care that a scientist who turned out to be correct, was put in his place and admonished by his own government?

Government is in control of fear mongering.

Not sure, did Italy send Aid to the Katrina victims? How about the Twin tower issue.
It's nce to be nice but no one ever reciprocates.

It sounds like all the people mentioned in this article came to this country LEGALLY and spoke English to the reporters. I don't think any of them came to the USA and walked into the closest Welfare office.
They came, they assimilated, they did not forget their roots but they assimilated and they work and pay taxes. That's the difference!

Apparently to you, it's NOT nice to be nice. Everyone needs help, not just America and every country in the world is important, NOT JUST AMERICA.
Then you wonder why other countries don't want to help us out.

Not only was financial aid brought in from Italy to help Katrina victims, but doctors traveled from Italy to help, your ignorance is what sustains you as helpless and stupid for fifty years.

What did black people in America do for the victims of hurricane Katrina? NOTHING.
Did Africa render assistance...Yeah Right.

Also, Italy sent financial aid after 911.

So 2 1/2 years after Katrina...what's your point?

Maybe if you and yours weren’t so damn bitter for no reason you would be provide YOURSELVES with a better life. Don’t worry you’ll still get your welfare check next month while unemployment benefits will run out for many.

How much did YOU contribute to Katrina and 9/11? I can accurately answer this for myself…precisely nothing.

I did contibute to 911 victims but NOT Katrina…why?

They knew their levees would breach and they had at least 5 days notice to evacuate and did nothing. They now have a new motto for existing in America as burdens to taxpayers …“where be my FEMA card at?”

You must be proud.

I can't be bothered doing the research but I'm quite sure that whenever there is some large-scale disaster in the U.S. people all around the world send substantial sums of money.

I heard that Madonna was sending $500,000. What is it with incredibly wealthy people? Couldn't she sacrifice at least a whole million? I think Nicole Kidman sent the same trifling amount to Aus. for the bush-fire victims - what a tight-a.s
