in my opinion she does cater to suburan white people even see it in audience . Don't get me wrong she does a lot of good for people in general if she was really show more support for black people all the time right in from the whole world she know that the white wouldn't support her. Mostly people on her staff is white even though she has her on tv show she not free when it comes to race. As for the rappers she just typical most older black people they tend to misjudge most rappers . Because they tell truth about problems in the ghetto with harsh words so it offends them . Mostly because they talked about particular women, that reason she didn't invite ice cube on her show.

i have for along time told viewers in kenya mostly my friend that oprah is infact a pretender, she does not seem to call any of the black hiphop artist despite they being a source of great inspiration to young upcoming artist all around the world especially africa

Oh for God's sake. Maybe she just doesn't like rap music and rappers. And because its her show she brings on what she likes. As for you devoted 50 fans you should really think about what your saying when you mimic 50 saying she caters to a white audience. Oprah's been instumental in showing a positive image of black people on a global scale, and has done so single-handedly. She's smart, generous, has good vocabulary, and is very rich and powerful, which at one time many people would have not concieved coming from a black person. For 50 to basically call her an oreo and debase that image is extremely unfair. He should know his place and it is below Oprah.

You want to talk about fair? Ok. Let's be fair! Fine, she's a smart, educated, black woman... successful (I'll give you that), rich (I'll give you that too), powerful?(sure!).... Fair? hmmmm...
If you were a black person who truly wanted to be an inspiration to others, and show appreciation for where you came from and how you got where you are.... Answer me honestly (I don't know "TEK" if you are black or white, but if you are white... put yourself in a black persons shoes for just a second... I know that might be hard for some of you white people, but just try)....Ok, now that you're using your imagination... Answer honestly... Would you spend your millions buying cars for middle class white americans, or would you take that money and do something else with it (say.... maybe like what Luda is doing for the Ludacris Foundation?)..... If you really cared about the future of American youth (specifically young girls), would you have professional pole dancers on your show, telling them that "pole dancing for fitness" is a cool idea? Would you endorse shows like Desperate Housewives, encouraging young girls to live the kind of lifestyle that gives rappers these days their "fuel" (if ya will), calling it "fun entertainment?"
Maybe she doesn't like rap music. You could be absolutely right! There would be nothing wrong with that... but like my man Luda said... Let's be fair! Don't invite someone into your house, if all you are going to do, is disrespect them, and not give them an opportunity to defend themselves, especially when you are being hypocritical about the whole thing.

I'm with y'all!! Especially you,Ludafan. I from Mississppi( oprahs birth state!) and she does not ackowledge or help (to MY knowledge) any one from here. She had a Boys and Girls Club built here no too long ago but that is all that you heard about it .It's true, NO, most black people won't take hand outs, but we sure as hell won't turn 'em either!! To give help to people that need it is one thing(like them damn cars, I sure could have used one!!), but just to do it to boost your ratings or book sales is bullcrap! No, that ain't really what I wanted to say!

I totally agree with TEK in his post. I so admire Oprah for everything she has accomplished. The rappers of today need to start projecting a more positive image of themselves. The whole genre of hip-hop has a poor image...gansta rap the worst. Clean up your acts and maybe you will get what you feel you deserve from Oprah. Stop whining...hey, hip-hop a song about it.......

Ladafan, first of all, i'm black, which is why i'm so greatful for all that Oprah's done for our image. And your picking simple cases. She does lots of work for black people, especially in Africa. And she gave like 50+ families new houses in New Orleans, most of whom were black, but i guess you didn't see that show. Not to mention using her show to amount millions of dollars for the hurricane victims. OK yes, she has fun non-serious shows were she gives away expensive shit. Its not like there are no black people in the audience. And don't fret, Oprah giving away 250 cars is like me giving away 5 bucks. She has plenty of money to go around and she divides it all over the world.

However, i do agree she intentionally avoids bringing rap artists to her show because she doesn't know rap and she'll have nothing to ask and sound like a retard. She rarely brings on sports stars either, i believe for the same reason. Could you imagine if she brought on Gretsky or Jordan. She knows Sportline would be harping on her for like a month cause she clearly knows nothing about hockey or basketball. Like i said before, she brings on what she's into and there's a false assumption that she should like rap because she's black.

Once again. Fine! I could care less what her taste in music is. But DO NOT INVITE SOMEONE ON YOUR SHOW, TO SIMPLY INSULT THEM. That is my point! That is what makes her look bad to fans of hip hop. Some of us, don't agree with a lot of what she does to start with, and that whole blow up with Ludacris that did get blown way out of proportion just made her look worse.
When Oprah starts spending her millions on some of the lesser known needs of this world, and less of her millions on things that the world can't help but see, because they are at the forefront of the public eye to make us all say "wow... look at what a good person she is." ... then maybe I'll start liking her a little more. It's more than what you do in front of the camera. Life is about who you are, when people are not watching. It's all about image with Oprah... and that turns a lot of people off, including me.

k Ludafan, I partly agree with you. Some artists have complained that she hasn't done hip-hop shows and doesn't have rappers on - that i diagree with for the reasons i said earlier. But your right about the thing with Ludacris. She did treat him bad. And Ice Cube has been involved with work for her show and hasn't been reconized because he's a hip-hop artists, that's also wrong. I guess she has pre-concieved notions about hip-hop artists and doesn't want them to damage the shows 'good' image. But yeah, her trying to make amends by saying 'i like rap music' obviously shows that she doesn't really understand why they're upset. Basically i think 50's reason for being upset is bullshit, but luda's and ice cubes's reason are legitimate.

my kid was raped by two of g-units minions at a college campus--don't te;; me that crap they play is a good example of human behavior--the police tell me that one of the g-unit animals that raped and sodomized my disabled 17 year old was shot to death despite his kevlar and machine guns, in Queens. Good for Oprah for calling a spade a spade. My kid is mixed race and handicapped and the sobs who raped her and ruined our lives were black--so what? i don't care what color they or we all are==pigs are pigs--they come in all colors and genders--where were all the black outraged women when my daughter (their sista) was raped? Hiding.

ludafan is right its not cool to invite people to your house to be disrespectful to them. oprah have done a lot of good deeds but it was rude to invite my husband luda on her show to be rude to him. he really didn't have to go on her show but he did cause he got a good heart.

she fucked up being to luda because she must not realize all these fans he have to support him especially me. if she had been cooler to him then people will sit there and actually watch her show. that will make more rappers want to come on her show. don't get me wrong she could have asked him questions hisself. but when she asked him y he uses profanity and sexual language in his lyrics dat was just all fucked up. i know he felt froze inside when she said dat. i say keep all dat rude shit to herself don't come at anybody wit dat shit and i'm so real. holla back

I am so sorry for what happened to your family. That is so sad, but not shame that should be carried by your child. I will pray for your healing...

That's a good point. Not so much ludagris, but 50's G-Unit is having a very bad affect on youth. I can only really speak for my country but over here gang and gun activity/violence has grown dramtically amoung youth, who call themselves some spin off of the name g-unit. I'm not sure how anyone can deny the negative effects G-unit's had on teen males especially. If that's her reason for ignoring hip-hop, she should just come right out and say it. People would then be a lot more understanding of her position. Again, that doesn't justify her bitching at ludicris, since i don't think his stuff is destroying the youth today

Tell me something.... Where was the rap music when Hitler rose to power? When Black men and women were snatched from their homelands in Africa? Where was the rap music when the first bombs ever were created? When the first murder took place? It doesn't matter how many ways people try and explain it to you.... y'all are still having a hard time with this.... Rap/hip hop/black music (call it what you will)... does not create violence. People create violence. Why? Take a look at your Bible's (if you have them, and believe them). People are sinners, depraved, without hope, evil in every way, until they accept the forgiveness of Jesus Christ.
Murderers, Rapists, Bombers, Genocide, and every other Crime and hate imaginable to man existed long before "hip hop" was ever even thought of...
Quit making excuses for people. If you don't like hip hop, that's one thing. Your hatred for it, doesn't mean that it's the reason for all evil.

Wow, you need to chill. First of all, i like hip-hop. I know it may be difficult for you to take in, but a lot of these videos glorify the gangster image, young people find that appealing, and go overboard. Teenagers are stupid and everyone knows that. So why put ideas in their head. And yeah, people create violence and not music but what's your point. Have you been paying attention to humanity throughout history. If you give someone a gun they'll fire it.
