Mostly, though, it was because he was such a DICK to his own people.

Naw, it's just realism. This hemisphere is predominantly "controlled" (if there ever is such a thing) by the USA. Other hemisphere- China & Russia, pretty much- less stability over on that side of the planet.

Manifest Destiny as applied to South America is more of an economic engine. For years the USA & its architects have been primary investors in SA, therefore, they should be its primary beneficiaries, in reasonable partnerships with the peoples of those countries. Past governmental escapades were shameful mockeries of actually attempting to install true democratic governments.

How well do the people truly fare over time with oppressive autocratic dictators & military juntas that have no allegiance to the prime mover in its nearby geopolitical arena?

As long as we are the primary consumers of most of your exports, you are working for US. So act like it, and not some stupid little bitch that still doesn't know how bad it can be under communo-fascist dictatorships.

I was alluding to what I consider to be misguided statecraft by CIA, Pentagon, Allied MultiNational Corporations here. Didn't catch it?

You miserable hair-trigger reactionary leftie punk. Many Nazi war criminals, Russian & Chinese agents would have run amuck in SA with impunity without those cowboys in the intelligence services. Still not the way I would have handled the sitch.

Now, what's your next smartass remark & ranting going to cover?
