Run, Joe, run

Mayor Bloomberg's bid for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to run for Gracie Mansion rather than the White House was quickly dismissed by the former first lady - but not before underscoring a painfully obvious question.

Yup, everyone one of them that watches Fox News is becoming more stupid every day. Even the NYTs is carrying water for the GOP. Remember how they took copy straight from the bush white house to drum up support for the US attacking Iraq? Remember how they buried the story about Gore winning in Florida in 2000? How could anyone ever trust the NYTs when they have lied so blatantly. They even admit it.

The NYTs was part of the media consortia who counted the ballots. They counted the ballots according to Florida law to see who would have won, had the USSC not voided our election. The results were available shortly after the 9/11/2001 attack and the NYTs made the editorial decision not to report that bush would have lost right after an attack, thinking the timing would not be right.

The problem with the media burying that story is people like you still think bush would have won had the USSC not voided the election and handed the presidency to bush. You have Fox News still telling you bush won by a landslide.

If the USSC had given Gore his 4 county recount as he requested, he still would have lost, per the results of the "media consortium:

That was one of the problems. There were many ways to count the ballots. However there was only one way proscribed by Florida law and when counted that way..... well, here are some quotes from the article you referenced:

"A statistical analysis conducted for The Times determined that if all counties had followed state law in reviewing the absentee ballots, Mr. Gore would have picked up as many as 290 additional votes, enough to tip the election in Mr. Gore's favor"

And

"If all the ballots had been reviewed under any of seven single standards, and combined with the results of an examination of overvotes, Mr. Gore would have won, by a very narrow margin. For example, using the most permissive "dimpled chad" standard, nearly 25,000 additional votes would have been reaped, yielding 644 net new votes for Mr. Gore and giving him a 107-vote victory margin."

"Using the most restrictive standard the fully punched ballot card 5,252 new votes would have been added to the Florida total, producing a net gain of 652 votes for Mr. Gore, and a 115-vote victory margin. "

The only way for bush to have won is to use different standards and select which standards you want to use based upon the outcome.

And you can easily see the information was buried in the article.

Additionally it becomes very clear that the count didn't matter, as the law was not followed, yet the electoral college votes from Florida were counted as though they belonged to bush, in clear violation of the law. It doesn't make any sense to through out the election and then claim a victor.

bush was appointed, after losing, and the media covered it up.

That statement probably is true. But Gore should not be the final arbiter in deciding which ballots to count. They should have been counted according to Florida law. When counted according to Florida law, Gore would have been the winner. Since the law was not obeyed, those electoral votes for bush should have not been counted.

Yes, Don Joe should be, after first figuring out which process would have theoretically put Gore ahead......
