Gov. Richardson's Endorsement of Obama and the Media

And putting aside the fact that the media keep harping on the fact that Richardson is the only Latino governor in the nation, the news media are hyping what is really a self-serving endorsement by a man who's ...

Any comments from the highly respected Donna Brazile, a political commentator on CNN's The Situation Room and American Morning.(In addition, she is a columnist for Roll Call and a contributing writer for Ms. Magazine).

Several weeks ago she stated that she would quit her DNC position (Chair of the DNC’s Voting Rights Institute) if the Superdelegates vote trumped the will of the people.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php...

“I'll Quit DNC Position Over Superdelegates” by Donna Brazile (audio interview) NPR News & Notes, 2/11/08

Ms Brazile’s opinion is important for a number of reasons. She was the campaign manager of the 2000 presidential campaign of Vice President Al Gore.

She was the first African-American woman to manage a major presidential campaign that also won the popular vote. She provides valuable insight and perspective as to how to interpret the facts that John Kerry and Ted Kennedy (Mass) and now Bill Richardson (NM) are going against the will of the voters and are endorsing Sen Obama.

Sen Obama’s camp was accusing Sen Clinton that she would try to steal the election by ‘stealing’ the Superdelegates’ vote.

Here is what is actually happening:

Who has actually given the most money to date to Superdelegates?

Sen Obama $710,900
Sen Clinton $236,100

http://www.capitaleye.org/inside.asp...

The Center for Responsive Politics has found that campaign contributions have been a generally reliable predictor of whose side a superdelegate will take

I would like to know what her thoughts are on the Kerry, Kennedy, Richardson endorsements and what action-if any- she will take.

There is a pattern here: If you are not good enough to produce for the American people without using lies and deceptions, and if the American people reject you and your lies, then call people names and divide the nation so that you can win votes.
1) Shameless Carville defending Billary
The reaction of some of Mr. Clinton’s allies suggests that might have been a wise decision.“An act of betrayal,” said James Carville, an adviser to Mrs. Clinton and a friend of Mr. Clinton.
“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,” Mr. Carville said, referring to Holy Week.
Source:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/22/us/politics...
2) Shameless Bill dividing DNC and the nation
"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election between two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interests of the country and people could actually ask themselves who is right on the issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."
"It sounds more like McCarthy," McPeak said. "I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it."

Tell us what you will do about Bill and his refusal to grow up into full human being:

Obama Aide: Bill Clinton like Joe McCarthy
Obama camp hits back after Clinton seems to question Obama's patriotism
By Associated Press
March 22, 2008.

SALEM, Ore.- Hillary Clinton's campaign is trying to clarify comments by former President Clinton that seemed to question Barack Obama's patriotism — comments an Obama aide likened to Joseph McCarthy.

Clinton's campaign said the comments were being misinterpreted and quickly posted a clarification on its Web site. But retired Air Force Gen. Merrill "Tony" McPeak said he was disappointed by the comments and compared them to those of McCarthy, the 1950s communist-hunting senator.

The former president made the comments while speculating about a general election between his wife and Republican John McCain.

"I think it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country," said Clinton, who was speaking to a group of veterans Friday in Charlotte, N.C. "And people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues, instead of all this other stuff that always seems to intrude itself on our politics."

Obama aide:'I've had enough'
McPeak, a former chief of staff of the Air Force and currently a co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign, said that sounded like McCarthy.

"I grew up, I was going to college when Joe McCarthy was accusing good Americans of being traitors, so I've had enough of it," McPeak said.

Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer rejected the comparison.

"To liken these comments to McCarthyism is absurd," Singer said. He said McPeak was "clearly misinterpreting" the remarks and suggested that might be an intentional effort to divert attention from a recent controversy involving controversial statements by Obama's former pastor.

In a posting on Hillary Rodham Clinton's Web site Friday, the campaign said the former president was simply talking about the need to keep the race focused on issues, "rather than falsely questioning any candidate's patriotism."

Former president attracts criticism
McPeak, who served under Clinton and the first President Bush, was skeptical.

"It's a use of language as a disguised insult. We've seen this before, this little clever spin that's put on stuff," McPeak said. "I have no idea what his intentions are, but I'm disappointed in the statement. I think Bill Clinton is, or ought to be, better than that."

The former president has attracted criticism over earlier comments during the heated Democratic primary race. Following South Carolina's primary in January, he was accused of fanning racial tensions for appearing to cast Obama as little more than a black candidate popular in state with a heavily black electorate.

He also criticized the news media for making a race story out of his comments.

Tell us what you think about these 14 issues:

HALPERIN’S TAKE: Painful Things Hillary Clinton Knows — Or Should Know

1. She can’t win the nomination without overturning the will of the elected delegates, which will alienate many Democrats.

2. She can’t win the nomination without a bloody convention battle — after which, even if she won, history and many Democrats would cast her as a villain.

3. Catching up in the popular vote is not out of the question — but without re-votes in Florida and Michigan it will be almost as impossible as catching up in elected delegates.

4. Nancy Pelosi and other leading members of Congress don’t think she can win and want her to give up. Same with superdelegate-to-the-stars Donna Brazile.

5. Obama’s skilled, close-knit staff can do things like silently kill re-votes in Florida and Michigan and not pay a political price.

6. Many of her supporters — and even some of her staffers — would be relieved (and even delighted) if she quit the race; none of his supporters or staff feel that way. Some think she just might throw in the towel in June if it appears efforts to fight on would hurt Obama’s general election chances.

7. The Rev. Wright story notwithstanding, the media still wants Obama to be the nominee — and that has an impact every day.

8. Obama might not be able to talk that well about the new global economy, but she (and McCain) can’t either.

9. Many of the remaining prominent superdelegates want to be for Obama and she (and Harold Ickes) are just barely keeping them from making public commitments to him.

10. She can’t publicly say more than 2% of all the things she would like to say about race, electability, beating McCain and experience.
11. If she somehow found a way to win the nomination, she would have to offer Obama the veep slot, and she doesn’t want to do that.

12. This is a change election, and Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton can never truly be change.

13. Obama is having fun most days, and she isn’t.

14. Even though her campaign staff is having more fun than it has for a long time, there’s hardly anyone there who, given half a chance, wouldn’t slit Mark Penn’s throat — and such internal dissension won’t help her in the home stretch.

Tell us what should be done in Ohio. Should there be a revote in Ohio since Hillary lied to Ohio voters about her support for NAFTA? Shouldn't Hillary stripped of her delegates from Ohio? Be honest when you answer because we are dealing with thousands of jobs lost and thousands of families destroyed!!!!!

WASHINGTON (Reuters)- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton now argues that the North American Free Trade Agreement needs to be renegotiated, but newly released records showed on Wednesday she promoted its passage.

The last 2-3 times I heard Donna Brazile on CNN, she was very pro-Obama. In the beginning of this campaign, she had some very positive things to say about Hillary, but I haven't heard many of those lately. Then I quit watching CNN a few weeks ago because of the overt biases.

In the Washington Post article you cited, I noticed that Rep. Lewis expects all the superdelegates to vote according to their constituency's wishes. I wonder if he remembers NM went for Clinton but Richardson just gave his support to Obama.

It would not surprise me to learn that there is a ploy here by Billary.

BUT one thing I know for sure is that Billary can never win the nomination without stealing it from Obama.

Obama won the highest number of states.

Obama won the highest number of pledged delegates.

Obama won the highest number of popular votes.

Obama has more than $30 million in the bank while Hillary is in red due to her poor financial skills.

If you can not manage your own money, you certainly cannot manage USA.

If you lied about NAFTA, you will certainly lie about NAFTA2 and NAFTA3.

Judge Him by His Laws

People who complain that Barack Obama lacks experience must be unaware of his legislative achievements. One reason these accomplishments are unfamiliar is that the media have not devoted enough attention to Obama's bills and the effort required to pass them, ignoring impressive, hard evidence of his character and ability.

The police proved to be Obama's toughest opponent. Legislators tend to quail when cops say things like, "This means we won't be able to protect your children." The police tried to limit the videotaping to confessions, but Obama, knowing that the beatings were most likely to occur during questioning, fought -- successfully -- to keep interrogations included in the required videotaping.

Obama didn't stop there. He played a major role in passing many other bills, including the state's first earned-income tax credit to help the working poor and the first ethics and campaign finance law in 25 years (a law a Post story said made Illinois "one of the best in the nation on campaign finance disclosure"). Obama's commitment to ethics continued in the U.S. Senate, where he co-authored the new lobbying reform law that, among its hard-to-sell provisions, requires lawmakers to disclose the names of lobbyists who "bundle" contributions for them.

The bottom line is that everyone must now question the integrity and honesty of the superdelegates because Obama has bought them off with campaign contributions or promises of a place in his administration. If not that, then they have been coerced and intimidated with threats of ruined careers. Obama has proved himself to be a lying, manipulative anti-American, Malcolm X opportunist incapable demonstrating any qualities of leadership. His very presence in Wright's church was an endorsement of hate mongering. His speech was just another attempt to divert attention away from the fact the he failed to lead by walking out of the church 20 years ago. He has disrespected our country and everyone in it.

The final count was extremely close. "The final statewide count gave her a 1,709-vote edge over rival Sen. Barack Obama." For a state with voting in the 135,000+ range that is extremely close. There was some caucus irregularies that may have favored Clinton (people took ballot boxes home instead of turning them in directly). Perhaps Richardson factored that in.

The Clinton people rejoice now in their Preacher Wright manuever, but there will be a long interval between now and November a lot of water will go over the dam.

Elements of the Press such as Fox News will try to keep it alive and rescusitate it later, but eventually there will be a backlash against racially motivated attacks, as the voters really get to know, like and trust Barack himself. Barack is a likeable guy of great intellect, discipline and ability; this will show through over time.

Barack has the nomination won, Florida and Michigan dashed Hillary's last hopes. Now all Barack has to do is keep control of the high ground, let the Clintons be the Clintons, and the actual election campaign will take care of itself.

I don't bother to post much against Hillary any more, because I know our work is done in that regard, Hillary is a non-factor at this point.

The November election will be about age against youth, new against old, the past against the future, war against peace, failed disasterous policies against vigorous enthusiastic leadership advocating new solutions, an energetic young articulate leader projecting an image of a dynamic imaginative America, against a doddering hesitant old man projecting an image of bungling failed Bush policies.

Even the Republicans know McCain is a very poor candidate. The Press which pats him on the head now while keeping their powder dry, will turn on McCain like rabid dogs in the general election, with the exception of FOX Propaganda "News".

McCain will have two choices; to not debate and tacitly admit he can't begin to compete with Obama in a public head-to-head discussion of the issues, or he can take the stage against Obama, offering a stark contrast with the candidate of a generation whose time has come, and prove all of the above to be true.

McCain is already having senior moments; the pressure of the campaign is going to weigh heavily upon this old man and he is not going to respond well. McCain is elderly in every sense of the word.

Barack Obama is destined to be our next great American President.
