Benghazi attack

Dec 20, 2012 Full story: The Washington Post 124

The State Department will strengthen security at diplomatic posts in dangerous areas, adding Marine guards and better protecting against fires, in response to the fatal attacks on a lightly guarded compound in Libya, department leaders said Thursday.

As soon as Obama was force to make a decision he ran as usual, he told Harry Reid to drive us off the cliff. It's Obama's fault, It's Obama's decision.

Obama needs to be impeached for giving aid and comfort to the enemy after a terrorist attack. Chris Stevens and Tyrone Woods are dead because of Obama and his stupid political gains. His attempted, but failed cover up of a terrorist attack allowed the enemy to escape. No to mention his lying to the American public like we are all a bunch of stupid fools. He didn't send help either. Hillary should be charged with criminal negligence and aiding and abetting the enemy and Susan Rice should be tar and feathered by the families of the deceased..
I'm glad that 4 people in the State Department lost their jobs yesterday but we have to get to the top criminals, Obama and Hillary, for any justice to be felt by the families and Americans.
Let the impeachment begin.

The Battling Boys of Benghazi
(just s bump in the road)
.
We're the Battling Boys of Benghazi,
no fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell,
defending the country we loved so well.
.
It wasn't our job but we answered the call,
fought to the consulate, and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty countrymen from the jaws of fate,
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.
.
Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
but we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought and we fought, and we fought till we died.
.
But we gave our all for Uncle Sam,
but Barack Obama didn't give a damn.
Just two dead SEALs, who carried the load,
no thanks to us, we're just "bumps in the road."

After all, it's one of the things he is good at. So many of his voters look at his wasteful lifestyle and dream that that could be them as well. It's the closest they will ever get, no matter how many empty promises he makes in his pretty speeches.

If only these non-issues – from Fast and Furious to Benghazi – could have gotten some traction before the election… oh well, at least we got Petraeus out of there in the process.

And the losers are still crying, I love it, LOL!

Go check your fox news information again… they probably have the other Man of the Year written in small print, LOL.

It is killing idiots like you to see that they named the Black guy who single-handedly found and killed Osama bin Laden Time’s Man of the Year after being re-elected in a landslide with a mandate… I remember all the stupid crap you were posting on here over the last few years saying that you can’t wait until Obama loses in 2012… I wish I could have been there to see the look of shock on that ugly face of yours on November 6th… I would have spit right in your face and laughed.

The Deaths of the Ambassador and 3 Americans in Benghazi are directly due to the Republican Budget Cuts totaling more than $300 Million from the State Department Budget for Diplomatic Security and Foreign Aid.

The Republican Majority in the House in Feb 2011 imposed State Department funding cuts eliminating necessary employee hiring and diplomat post security enhancements. Those decisions subject State Department Employees at high risk post vulnerable to terrorist attack.

"For many years the State Department has been engaged in a struggle to obtain the resources necessary to carry out its work, with varying degrees of success. This has brought about a deep sense of the importance of husbanding resources to meet the highest priorities, laudable in the extreme in any government department. But it has also had the effect of conditioning a few State Department managers to favor restricting the use of resources as a general orientation. There is no easy way to cut through this Gordian knot, all the more so as budgetary austerity looms large ahead. At the same time, it is imperative for the State Department to be mission-driven, rather than resource-constrained...... "

".....The recommendations in this report attempt to grapple with these issues and err on the side of increased attention to prioritization and to fuller support for people and facilities engaged in working in high risk, high threat areas. The solution requires a more serious and sustained commitment from Congress to support State Department needs, which, in total, constitute a small percentage both of the full national budget and that spent for national security. One overall conclusion in this report is that Congress must do its part to meet this challenge and provide necessary resources to the State Department to address security risks and meet mission imperatives."

In the weeks and months leading up to the attacks, the response from post, Embassy Tripoli, and Washington to a deteriorating security situation was inadequate. At the same time, the SMC’s dependence on the armed but poorly skilled Libyan February 17 Martyrs’ Brigade (February 17) militia members and unarmed, locally contracted Blue Mountain Libya (BML) guards for security support was misplaced.

".......At the time of Ambassador Stevens’ visit, February 17 militia members had stopped accompanying Special Mission vehicle movements in protest over salary and working hours."

Page 6

"Post and the Department were well aware of the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks but at no time were there ever any specific, credible threats against the mission in Benghazi related to the September 11 anniversary. Ambassador Stevens and Benghazi-based DS agents had taken the anniversary into account and decided to hold all meetings on-compound on September 11.
The Board found that Ambassador Stevens made the decision to travel to Benghazi independently of Washington, per standard practice."

"Plans for the Ambassador’s trip provided for minimal close protection security support and were not shared thoroughly with the Embassy’s country team, who were not fully aware of planned movements off compound. The Ambassador did not see a direct threat of an attack of this nature and scale on the U.S. Mission in the overall negative trendline of security incidents from spring to summer 2012. His status as the leading U.S. government advocate on Libya policy, and his expertise on Benghazi in particular, caused Washington to give unusual deference to his judgments."

The Board found that certain senior State Department officials within two bureaus demonstrated a lack of proactive leadership and management ability in their responses to security concerns posed by Special Mission Benghazi, given the deteriorating threat environment and the lack of reliable host government protection.

That's not correct information. President Obama has been named Time Person of the Year twice, sandwiched between winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

2008 and reoccurring now in 2012.

What exactly was the lie? Sounds as you are depending on the discredited reporting from Stooge Central to make such allegation?

I've heard the spectalatory nonsense on Benghazi distributed by the Propaganda Arm of the Republican party almost every day since Benghazi.

The lie was Obama's promise of change. Look at his policy towards the Moslem world. More of the same. This is Bush's fourth term. Not a dime's worth of difference.

We have no business in Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Syria...

Of course from ever expanding national debts to lingering high unemployment rates to government bailouts for big business... Obama IS Bush.

Except for Obamacare which he borrowed from Romney.

Patty has a point. So what if 4 Americans died unnecessarily because Obama was arogant, this is getting old. There is no more political ammo, just ask ABC, NBC, CBS. Move on, Obama won and he has a fiscal cliff to run off.

President Obama didn't cut funding for diplomatic post and foreign aid....

That was the Demand of the Republican/Tea Party for Spending Cuts.. and spending cuts totaling $100 Billion is what they accomplished.

The GOP has always sought to cut Foreign aid and support for overseas operations under the State Department.

The State Department Systematic Failure extends beyond the Obama Administration. That's a result of the Republicans desire for less government for generations. Career employees in management at the State Department have been conditioned to pass the buck because funding wasn't available to implement enhanced security measures.

Hillary confronted Boehner about the elimination of funding in Feb 2011, to no avail.

Those continued funding cuts to the State Department budget request ultimately lead to the murder of Ambassador Stevens and 3 other Americans.
