What isn't mentioned in the article is that Clinton's "compromise" staved-off a far worse tide that was growing at the time. One that would have harmed us far more and set us back as much as 2-3 decades.

I remember that time, too. When Clinton took office, he gave us great hope that he was on our side, he was pushing to allow us to serve in the military. But there was a terrible backlash and DADT and DOMA were the result.

The threat was a push for a Constitutional amendment, which would have been devastating for us (and would probably still be on the books today - it takes as much effort to repeal an amendment as to establish one).

You are correct up until the last.

It takes FAR, FAR, FAR more effort when you are a hated minority.

Think of the Amendments that have been repealed (just ONE !!!), and the demographics involved.

This informative and very entertaining interview can help with grasping the scope.

Current threats to us (in the works by our opposition) are on the order of an anti-gay Corwin Amendment in scope and effect, and an Amendment effectively banning Marriage Equality. Discussions and planning for these have been ongoing in the Law and PoliSci Schools of Regent University, Liberty University, Georgetown University, Notre Dame University ... the list goes on.

I was on active duty when Clinton was elected and I remember the euphoria at the thought gays & lesbians would be able to serve. While we were disappointed the ban wasn't repealed outright, everyone I knew welcomed DADT as a step forward.

You apologists no know bounds and make me sick. Clinton was a LIAR, an ADULTERER, a PERJURER and a lot worse, but you Libs stoop to unplumbed lows to defend him. Remember he WAS impeached for his crimes.

A partisan impeachment doesn't mean much, other than the GOP hated Clinton even more than you do.

NOBODY hates Clinton more than I do !

And he ADMITTED he committed perjury (a federal CRIME) when he VOLUNTARILY AGREED to become a disbarred attorney by surrendering his license to practice law. Are you saying that's not true ?!

Don't really care, just as I don't really care if Booth acted alone.
