FDA warning might be cited in Afghan slayings case
A lawyer for an American soldier set to be sentenced for killing 16 Afghan civilians may cite a new Food and Drug Administration warning about the psychiatric side effects of an antimalarial drug used by U.S. troops.

Good for them for citing the side effects, especially: "serious psychiatric side effects".
Another thing to keep in mind when a soldier 'wacks out' is that these new wars are SO VERY DIFFERENT than wars where there were actual 'front lines'.
Now these guys (and gals) are smack dab in the middle of an uncertain situation, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week; never knowing if they'll hit an IED on the road or a suicide bomber INSIDE their base.(not to mention seeing a buddy get blown up).
That in itself is enough to push a well-balanced mind, out of wack. Medication with side effects make a person even THAT MUCH MORE unpredictable!!

Murder has never gone away as a side effect of bloody U.S. wars in out-of-the-way, godforsaken foreign hellholes.
Lt. Calley is back!
