Federal gas tax hike could be on horizon

The political vision of a summer gas tax holiday died a quick death in Congress, losing to a view that federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel will have to go up if they go anywhere.

Great idea. Raise the price a dime now and all the stupid people who vote for you will blame the oil companies! Perfect. Maybe next year after the stupid people elect Obama he can decrease the increase to 9.9 cents and tell everyone he "cut taxes".
