J ohn Edwards did a large favor for Sen. Barack Obama , but the Illinois senator is not out of the woods yet.

If nominated, Obama probably edges McCain due to the miserable job done by Bush. But Obama's a remarkably weak candidate (despite his charisma) because of Rev. Wright, rural and blue collar whites, and he's the only candidate the Dems have that gives McCain a chance. Here's how the USA would vote had the Dems nominated these candidates.

Al Gore over McCain 56-44%
John Kerry over McCain 55-45%
John Edwards over McCain 55-45%
Hillary Clinton over McCain 54-46%
Obama over McCain - 51-49%.

One of the side benefits of the current presidential primaries cycle is that it has revealed just how many ignorant, provincial, narrow-minded rubes, goobers, morons and simpletons are out there who have been given the power of an election ballot. Our Republic is in deep, deep trouble.

If obama and his cronies proceed to BUY him the nomination, he won't win in november...

Hillary's supporters will NOT vote for obama. The DNC and obama supporters keep saying we will all come together in november... That will NEVER happen. WE WILL VOTE MCCAIN INTO THE WHITE HOUSE.

That will be our protest for the way they have ALL treated Hillary.

Hillarys supporters plus Mccains supporters equal President Mccain.

obamas supporters ALONE equals BYE BYE BAMA!

Excellent commentary.

Though Sen.Obama talks with great eloquence about the future, he sounds for all the world like one of the long line of Democrats from George McGovern to Walter Mondale to Michael Dukakis, who became history by espousing policies and striking a rhetorical pose that was well out of the mainstream of American politics.

America is certainly moving left in the post-George Bush era. The long period of conservative ascendancy
is clearly over, buried by a Republican Party of recent years that has preached intolerance and practised incompetence. That a new era in American politics is beginning is not in doubt. But are Americans really ready to leap all the way across in one go to embrace a European-style democracy??

Why would anyone think Obama might be a secret Muslim? Could it be his own words?“In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school,” he wrote in his first memoir,“Dreams from my Father.” His defenders have tried to deflect the school connection, but they cannot deny his words. Or could it be that his brother, Roy, is an active Muslim as were his father and step-father? Or might it be that his "Christianity" was non-existent for the first two decades of his life? Or could it be, as the New York Times wrote, "As the son of the Muslim father, Senator Obama was born a Muslim under Muslim law as it is universally understood. It makes no difference that, as Senator Obama has written, his father said he renounced his religion. Likewise, under Muslim law based on the Koran his mother’s Christian background is irrelevant." Now why would anyone think that the man behind the curtain might be someone other than he presents?

The problem with the Dummycrats is that they just don't understand us rural, blue collar, white real Americans. We don't want any part of your dystopian neo-Marxist welfare state. You can put the blacks into ghettos and pay them off with welfare checks (and pay for it by soaking the rich with astronomical taxes). Don't try that bullshit with us, we're not buying it. We recognize Communism when we see it. And this is the only solution Dummycrats have for America's failing economy. And we know they aren't smart enough to come up with any thing else. What we want is a fair path to becoming rich on our own, through our own wits, and we don't want the f**king Dummycrats with the hand in our pockets when we get there!
My guess is that you wouldn't know communism if it jumped out of its grave and bit you in the ass. You are just the ignorant, easily frightened voter the republicans have been counting on for the past thirty years. They throw out their catch phrases and buzzwords and you get scared and vote them into office and then you have to sit around and bitch about how nothing gets done and then come the next election you're worse off than you were but you have to vote republican to put God back in our schools or keep gays from being able to marry or overturn Roe v Wade. And all the time the wages stagnate, the jobs disappear and a dozen other things happen to lessen your quality of lifebut Why should you care? CEO pay is up over 400% on average, corporate profits are higher than ever and rising, political coruption is at a level never seen before, but hey, the republicans are the party of family values and morality. Maybe you have health insurance so to hell with the rest of them who don't, it's probably their own fault anyway and there's only about 50 million of them so who cares? Not you real Americans, you don't mind paying more for less than the rest of the industrialized world, as long as the healthcare industry is doing fine your going to vote republican cause thats what real Americans do, damn the facts.

I hate to say it, but I fear you are right. It's hard to believe that so many people can be duped, by buzzwords and catch phrases, into voting against their own best interests. The republican party has done nothing to help ordinary working Americans for over thirty years. Since 1980 the republicans have held the White House almost twenty years and the dems eight and the only time that wages and household incomes consistantly rose was during the Clinton presidency. In the past year alone average household income is down almost a thousand dollars. The gap between the rich and poor is widening and the middle class is shrinking. More people are slipping into poverty than are moving into the wealthy class. Republicans talk a good line of crap but that's all it is, crap. Watch what they do instead of listening to what they say.

The New York Times and the rest of the mainstream media elites think they can win the cultural war by pushing Obama.

They're wrong.

This is not the time to elect a "feel good" empty suit. If Hillary is not the nominee myself and all my friends are going to back McCain. I would encourage everyone to do the same.

We dont need four years of inexperience simply because he is a black man. I feel no guilt over what happened 150 years ago (slavery) and have no intent of trying to soothe the pain of those that do by voting for a man that is otherwise unqualified.(Oh except that he is very good at copying the issue papers of Hillary Clinton)

You, my friend, need to brush up on economics before you run your mouth about how great the socialist, I mean Democratic party is. I suggest "Basic Economics" by Dr. Thomas Sowell and "Economic Facts and Fallacies" by the same author. The capitalist system which is praised by the right and villified by the left is far from perfect but is far superior to the alternatives.

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.~

Take your pick.

Why would Obama not appeal to white, working class Americans? It wouldn't be that he's a Harvard-educated, Harvard-talking lawyer who lives in a mansion, whose kids go to an elite private school, whose wife has a six-figure income, who's a millionaire himself, and whose experience with manual labor began and ended with lifting a beer at the student hangout in Cambridge? Nah, he really identifies with guys who work two jobs to support their families and would never go near a welfare office. After all, he is a bowler, isn't he????
