That was a pleasant stroll across the Ivy League campus of Brown University, in Providence, R.I. I saw the gardening crews, the maintenance trucks, the pricey restoration work on Faunce Arch.

"There are 629 college football teams, and only 14 make money." And only 1/2 half have winning seasons. NM teams are a drain on the University budgets and an embarrassment to the state.

"Compensation for college presidents, meanwhile, has soared to corporate CEO levels." As outrageous as that is, it is not as outrageous as the corporate CEOs who are earning 300-400 times the income of their average worker.

I understand the premise of the article, and agree with many points. For me personally, I learned a lot more on campus outside the classroom but still in the collegiate environment. Of course, that was 30 years ago.

It coast approximately 16,000 dollars a year to educate a person in a public college according to my professors.(undergrad) at CUNY Brooklyn college. But all students attending school there pay aprox 3 grand a semester which means education is subsidized by the state and the fed. I am supposed to pay 10,000 a year for grad school but don't pay a cent because I am a veteran. In New York State the government depending on your income and educational ability pays for state and City schools and the student only pays the fraction of the actual coast. What you are referring to is perhaps out of state schools and for profit schools. I noticed early in college that most of my professors that thought at my college also thought at NYU, Columbia, Pace, Hofstra, Brooklyn Law Fordham, St Johns.... why pay 60.000 -100,000 grand a year in the schools that i mentioned when the same professor that teaches at Columbia in the morning will be in your class in the afternoon for 1/10 of the coast.
