Oil Prices Rise Above $99 a Barrel

Crude oil prices rose above a record $99 per barrel Wednesday as worries about inadequate winter supplies in the Northern Hemisphere and news of refinery problems stoked bullish sentiment.

When are citizens going to stop this left/right thing. Our gov't has been in deep poop since 1973 and has done nothing. Bottom line is so long as oil is cheaper to produce and has higher profits then say solar or nuclear, that's what the 'energy' companies will produce. In about 20-30 years when it is more costly, that's when you will truly see alternate fuel. Of course, by then we will be speaking spanish, and praying in muslim temples, our dollar will be worth nothing and THEY will have gotten us through the economy.

I find it very amusing too see so few responses to this story. This is the real killer of the middle- class in America but no one wants to make any comments about this, but let some misguided or sometimes very stupid minority mug sombody then everyone has a field day. This story should evoke more emotion from the middle-class because if you did not realize it then I'll tell you. You guys are the only tax bracket that actually pays taxes. The poor get all their little money back. The rich get all theirs back in tax breaks and as you can see oil is not $100 a barrel for nothing. somebody is profiting. It sure is not us working poor, or whats left of the diminishing middle class.

I called a heating oil cooperative buying program on Friday to ask the price of fuel oil before joining and was proudly told our price today is $3.55 per gallon if you join our cooperative. Just days before, my 93 year old father on a very fixed income was filled up at $3.38 per gallon.

Bush and Cheney are making sure their oil buddies are getting huge profits. Impeach Bush and Cheney they are the villains here. Why doesn't Bush release the oil reserves to make the price of oil go down like Clinton did?

The bushtards, oil barons, the lot of them, took this country by force and foul, wherein dicky organized his energy task force UNDER COVER AND WITHOUT RESTRAINT, and rewrote energy policy for the country. They gave oil execs huge tax breaks, weakened environmental laws for them (they were oh so burdonsome), and they're all now making record humongous profits. They're laughing all the way to the bank, while we, the middle class, get squeezed tighter and tighter by their god awful policies. This administration has seen the greatest transfer of wealth from the poor and middle to the greedy corporate CEOs, and use the Iraq war as a ruse.
