bull shit. Honda produces more than 30 years, 6-cylinder boxer, which is used in the Goldwing. BMW may just want to keep up with Honda.

Honda (and I'm no fan of Honda's and YES I've owned a couple in the past)has the Valkerie. 6 cylinder. BMW may be the first in Europe assuming the Valkerie hasn't been there yet, but in the US the Valkerie beat BMW and as Sheik says, if correct, the Goldwing as well-making Honda TWO 6cyl. bikes.
Have you seen the Gun Bus? Not a 6, but.........

IN 1972 the Benelli Sei 750cc six was introduced. Honda introduced the six cylinder CBX in 1978. The Goldwing became a six cylinder in 1988.

The Benelli has been said to be a copy of Honda's CB500 four cylinder with bore and stroke being the same. Some people say the pistons of the Honda would fit the Sei.

Benelli had been a RACING inspiration to Honda in European Grand Prix racing. Honda copied a lot of Benelli overhead cam design engine features and won all size categories in 1966 (and had their engines banned as a result).

The Horex Six was introduced this year. It's a VR Six cylinder with integrated supercharger and about 200 HP. The BMW K1600 six, like the Horex and unlike the air cooled Benellis and Honda sixes is liquid cooled. The Horex and BMW are no wider than previous 4 cylinder designs. The BMW also has ABS, ASC and many up to date features that Honda lacks.

Honda has dominated touring machine sales ever since the Goldwing was introduced, and should continue to do so. BMW though, is clearly the technology leader over Honda.

Horex makes the 2nd existing German maker of motorcycles at the moment. Horex was always a premium quality motorcycle. The VW group is looking to buy a motorcycle manufacturer.

VW and BMW have both turned down the idea of buying Harley-Davidson, because they make low tech products.
