Grandmaster Flash deserves his honors as a groundbreaking influence in the world of rap and hip-hop.
However, for the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame to award him is stupid.
There are many, MANY other deserving ROCK bands out there but unfortunately Jann Wenner is prejudiced against many of them. Bands like Rush come to mind - bands who have many consecutive gold records, have performed for over 30 years and who are true musicians.

That is a great point. I dont really know alot about grandmaster flash other than they havent toured arenas playing rock. So-rock and roll ...hall of fame. I can understand how blues...ray charles...etc got in. That is basically the roots and forefathers of rock and concerts and shows as we know them today. Now-is rolling stone who makes these decisions? Do we just have to forget about bands THEY want us to forget about? I am seriously interested in why this happens like this.

...Yea. The Rock Hall of Fame. No Kiss, No New York Dolls...No Rush. I'm sure Iron Maiden and Judas Priest will never be inducted. And I don't beleive Deep Purple is in there either.

It's a bunch of PC bullshit. Do you think they will induct AC/DC into the hip hop hall of fame? This was just another case of society caving in to public belief that the black man needs to be a part of EVERYTHING....even when it doesn't make any sense.

Music is music, but that whole "Rock Hall of Fame" thing really stopped being worth anything a long time ago. If I wanted to watch any industry congratulate itself on how great it is, it wouldn't be the modern, bloated, irrelevant music industry of today, which steals from artists and consumers alike, while suing schoolgirls and grannies for piracy without anything resembling proof.

"Music is like candy...it's no good until you get rid of the rappers."

That's good. I like that one!

I'm NOT an authority on this, but I don't think Jann Wenner, of Rolling Stone magazine, is in any way, shape or form IN CHARGE of "who" gets into the
Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is a separate entity, altogether. Wenner may have some clout (as did Phil Spector, before his murder arrest), but the Hall of Fame has its OWN board of directors.

Look, you metalhead guys feel cheated (I understand that), but DON'T put down rap (or Hip Hop) just because YOU don't like it. Personally, I have only purchased one Hip Hop record (in my life!), and that was Beyonce's, "Crazy in Love."

R & B (race music back in the 50's), along with country and western music, helped to spawn Rock 'n' Roll, and Rock 'n' Roll helped to spawn rap and Hip Hop. It's a natural progression.

Music is a matter of taste; we may not LIKE something, but we should ALWAYS be tolerant. There's ONLY two kinds of music: Good and Bad.

You know, the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame DOES HAVE its own website. Why not just Google it, and then you can learn for yourself regarding past inductee's.

There is some sort of unholy union there between the RR HOF & RS. When you go to visit they have the price of a years subscription built into each ticket. You have to send it back asking to be credited - but of course if you take a family of four they don't credit you for four subscriptions - only one. Scam.

yes I beleive the rolling Stones and U2 are both in the hall of fame.

I am really impressed that they voted in R.E.M last night.

They also had the best performance of the evening.

I just wish they would have sang losing my religion but oh well.

The songs that Velvet Revolver preformed were "Ain't Talkin''Bout Love" and a distorted version of "Runaround". If you are going to report a newstory, get the facts correct.

I HATE RAP

IN HATE HIP HOP

I HATE THE "MUSIC"

I HATE THE "FASHION"

RAP HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ROCK AND ROLL

THEY MAY HAVE SPLINTERED OFF THE SAME ROOTS, BUT THEY ARE IN NO WAY RELATED.

SO WHY DOES RAP HAVE TO BE HONORED AT THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME?
