Why did a city police officer let a county sheriff's investigator go scot free after the infractions that he may have caused outside of Graham Central Station? Would that apply to any other citizen, that you would let him go on his on own recognizance? Double standards once again.

There they are the DANISH AKA Bill Richardson Clone forces
hacking away at nothing but attacks on a personal basis -
that is what happens when their candidate has nothing
going for them, a poor record to run on and of course
no substance to their platform.

A vote for Martinez is a vote for the future and progress -
a vote for DANISH well just a vote for the failed policies of the past under Richardson.

The service sector jobs have been rising for seven months. All they did under the Republicans was go down. To vote Republican now is suicide for the middle class.========

Unemployment has been rising for the last 19 months under democratic rule , to vote for democrats will ne pure suicide,,,,,

That is because there are only service sector jobs available ... all the good paying jobs have been vacated by Obama-recession. You need to think before your babble.

SoundOff: "I have no doubt Mr. Clayshulte and others, including myself, have worked many hours in the hot sun. How does that justify cutting down shade trees on the highway right-away where homeless people could take refuge from the heat? Have you no compassion for the homeless?"

A mature pecan tree, according to NMSU Ag Research, uses 150-250 gallons of water per day. Maybe his crop should be thinned out some, leaving more water for shade trees.

"Looking at the AYP school article that you printed in your paper, I really have concerns for the city because out of 37, 34 have failed to meet these standards."

The one school I observed in the past year did everything imaginable to pass the test. I would be HONORED to send my child to that wonderful school. Did that school pass the AYP? No. Not because the school needs to be ran differently, but because the test itself is flawed. 3/4 of ADULTS in NM wouldn't pass the test that these children have to take....

SoundOff: "Pat Garrett ambushed Billy the Kid and executed him without trial. Why did they not use non-lethal force like so many people demand of the police today? Maybe standards change."

Garrett never killed Billy -- there would've been photos taken of his body, if that were the case, and put on display for all to see.

For years I have been amazed at the politicians who campaign here in Southern New Mexico and then go "north" and forget we even exist. I am confident that Susana Martinez will remember Las Cruces if elected. Diane Denish has only come to Las Cruces campaigning. This isn't a Democrat or Republican issue, this is a Southern New Mexico issue. What would be best for us? What would be best for the entire state? More of what we have had for 8 years?

"In January, after the Bush tax cuts for the "wealthy" run out, how are these elitist Democrats going to try to explain to 90 percent of us who are not wealthy why our take-home pay went down and our taxes went up?"

Like this:'because you're wealthy. go to _ell.' This is stupid; taxes are fungible, taxing the rich only is impossible, the cost of everything for everyone will go up,'the rich' will have an excuse to raise prices to cover the tax, plus some more profit. Stupid.

"President Obama is making the same mistakes that LBJ make, trying to win an unwinable war in Afghanistan."

Nobody told you? O is a pro-peace president, we got out of vietghanstan and iraq months ago, gitmo is closed, troops are home from the other 137 countries we occupy, and no one is planning to bomb iran on false pretenses. You must have fallen for the right-wing conspiracy.

So you're buying the BS the white house is putting out right now? 76,000 jobs created but 2million jobs lost isn't a good thing...

Scot free? Really? I swear some of you people cant see past the nose on your face. They didn't tow his car, big f'n deal. He got released on his own regognizance, so what. He was still charged and he's gonna lose his job. I heard he already has put his house up for sale. Dude is gonna get hammered more than the average citizen. He's gonna lose a lot more than just his license. He made law enforcement look bad and now he's gonna pay dearly for it. Many, many of your average citizens don't get their car towed and many get released on an OR. Look at the big picture.

'Looking at the AYP school article that you printed in your paper, I really have concerns for the city because out of 37, 34 have failed to meet these standards. What are they doing to bring these students up to standard. How are they supporting the teachers and getting them on line so that they can pass these standards.'

The AYP is a moving target goal and will be IMPOSSIBLE to meet in the near future.

No way a school gets 100% of the kids to pass given that a good many of them are coming into this country with zero academic language learning skills, and parents that have the vocabulary of the average 5th grader, in a language other than English.

What you should be asking is why the state is cutting funding to education to the point that there are EO first grade classes that have 30 kids in them, with no IA, yet allowing the Medicaid barrier of entry to be so low that a good part of the state qualifies?

Why do they also allow various benefits to be handed out to illegals? Shouldn't the LEGAL citizens of NM come first?

Guess not.

Just a comment on the child safety seat clinic you guys ran in the paper. The child seems to be placed in the front seat. A child under the age of 1 is supposed to be harnessed in the back seat, not in the front seat.
Although it is something it is highly recommended to have children under the age of 1 in a car seat rear facing in the back seat, it isn't mandatory! What is mandatory is that the child is rear facing until the age of one; however, it is recommended to go longer with rear facing because of the child's c-spine developing and the weight of the head.

This site fails to stipulate the exceptions:
http://www.infant-car-seats.com/states/car-se...

If a person has a special needs child, they are often riding in front--providing the passenger airbag can be shut off. Another exception is for people who drive trucks. A person with a single cab obviously has no rear seat. Just like a person with an extended cab cannot always place a child's car seat rear facing as the smaller seat will not accommodate it. Crew cabs do have rear full size seats though.

I've had people try to lecture me about having my grandson positioned front center, rear facing in my extended cab P/U. Fords have the ability to shut off the airbag. Furthermore, I shouldn't have to explain to them that he has a heart condition.

So my request would be that people inform themselves correctly as to the legal requirements in their own state of residence...especially before disseminating wrong information.

Hope the info helps.

The more humane thing would be to allow the homeless people to nap under the shade of mesilla valley pecan trees during the long hot summers in the city of the crosses.

I can't believe how Obama is blamed for everything, when we are still feeling the brunt of his actions in Iraq and the Subprime collapse. All brought on by him, and his admistration. He sold the country on weapons of mass distruction that were not there.

"Susana Martinez ran the District Attorney Office as her private domain - no competitive bidding on office supplies and equipment. Instead she favored her friends. Is this how she plans to run the state if elected? "

She already said she would do it all over again if elected governor.

There might be a case of "hush money" paid by her to her "friends" to keep them quiet about her dealings.

Roswell needs to get ahold of Hicks and ask her some questions.
