Regardless of what any haters, critics or those who's knowledge of the band doesn't stretch further than the radio singles, Simple Plan have been one of the only bands in recent times that I've witnessed, with this amount of success and influential power that have chosen to actively use it in such a positive way.
The band have released their third album and are addressing issues that are close to their hearts and that many people will have experienced, however unfortunate. Keeping in mind, in 2002 upon their first album release, some band members were yet to reach their 18th birthday and have been put in the public eye ever since. It is without a doubt that they were to evolve and mature as they entered adulthood. There's no denying Simple Plan were always going to be a mainstream, chart-topping, pop-punk band, it is clear they had no other objective. But to face personal problems including family members surviving severe illnesses, the breakdown of relationships to the miracle of newborns has only made their already addictive characters even stronger, all while remaining true to themselves and those they care about- friends, family, their fans. This, I find so incredible, the degree to which this band cares about their fans, but equally those in need, this is evident in their extremely up-to-date websites, myspaces and frequent e-mails/blogs/vlogs. In their lyrics, their involvement in MADD,RADD, Live 8, Asia/Wave Aid etc. and their dedication to the 'Simple Plan Fondation' which is aimed at assisting youths. Not to mention constantly striving to promote and support new musicians and help them through the door. I commend these young men on their efforts, and believe they have achieved enormous feats and done so much good at such a young age and with no intention of slowing in the near future. You may point out that anyone could choose to do these things, I'm sure you would too, if you had salaries to match theirs. However, this is my point exactly. This is all just a testament of how much endless hard work the individuals of Simple Plan have put in. Without realising, Pierre Bouvier, Jeff Stinco, Sebastien Lefebvre, Chuck Comeau and David Desrosiers have become role models possessing such admiral attitudes and behaviour, to millions of kids across the globe. In no effort to refrain from sounding lame, I am so proud to call myself a Simple Plan fan and count myself lucky to have been able to hear their music and follow their efforts. They deserve all their success and in my opinion, above all, all the respect in the world even if you feel the urge to changes stations every time you hear "Welcome to My Life". |

simple plan has achieved more success than most bands when they were just starting out.they got mark hoppus from blink-182 and joel madden from good charlotte to sing a couple of their songs.and their songs has touched every teenager because they are so similar to everyday situations.i love them because they are so honest and true to themselves.and anyone who calls them douchebags, sellouts,or immature retards can fuck off.
