“My God, I don't even watch television. I don't like television. I never have liked it. The whole concept of sitting down in front of a TV feels like one of the things that's destroying society, as far as I'm concerned.”

Former X-FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON will never appear on TV again, claiming it is destroying society. via Contactmusic.com

I so agree. It's rare to find quailty shows. Bleak House and The X files are rare examples.

Exactly so!!!
Some ordinary examples of how Good TV-shows “destroy” society, and, to be more exact, how they remedy it!

i.e.# 1: If it wasn't for Gillian I would never decided to read Bleak House By Charles Dickens in original for this very novel wasn't included in our programme of education for English Literature.

i.e.# 2: And when I was a third-year student I got an excellent mark at American Literature for a report on Moby Dick by German Melville (symbols in the novel) which was "advertised" in TXF. I read it twice, and the second time when it was included into a “to read in summer” list.
It contains almost 700 pages but all who loves Dana Scully read it. But in our group I was the only TXF fan… This novel, just by chance, was in my exam card (everyone was scared of that card:). And Dana Scully saved my diploma!

(And how many excellent marks I got with the help of Gillian:) i.e.: when we studied a topic “Theatre” (at English Language lesson) we were to make a report on our favorite actor (tress).
(actually “I’d been preparing for this report” since childhood… So just made a plan. And my desk-mate, Kate, had a lot of “favorite actors”, and it means none, had to pick up one, find info on the net, compose a report, learn it by heart, find a picture of him…I enjoyed speaking bout Gillian, because I love her very much. And Kate forgot whom she was even going to speak about. Later we had the same topic at a French lesson: I just translated everything into French, and so on…

And what on earth can we learn from the actors, the characters, and the show itself! X-Files University forever! Learn English and everything on earth with The X-Files!
