Recalling Gerry Rafferty, beyond a Baker Streeta
Gerry Rafferty died Tuesday. If you're under the age of 40, the name probably means nothing to you, although you doubtless recognize his biggest hit, 1978's "Baker Street,'' when you hear it on oldies radio or in the supermarket.

Gerry was simply one of the best singer/songwriters ever! While not quite recognized as such, he IS up there with the "paul simons, leonard cohens, town van zants, dave masons, james taylors, etc" if he had chose to "promote " himself traditionally, he might have been more seen that way. But, he hated the industry and chose to do things HIS way. Paving the way for the "indie" way of handling careers. We must respect that. I can only hope we can all do more to get the rest of the world to do the same and expose ALL his music to them. He was a truly "unique" talent like no other. No one else sounded like him at all! The world is poorer for his loss. I (and others) will miss him terribly! He's on the "Ark" now. Bon voyage, Gerry.
