Jeff Lynne to complete unfinished George Harrison songs

There are 9 comments on the www.list.co.uk story from Jun 17, 2009, titled Jeff Lynne to complete unfinished George Harrison songs . In it, www.list.co.uk reports that:

A batch of unheard songs by late Beatle George Harrison are set to be made into a new album. Several previously unheard songs by George Harrison are set to be released. The late former Beatle had a large batch of unfinished tracks at the time of his death in 2001 and they will now be worked on by musician Jeff Lynne - who was a member of 80s super-group The Traveling Wilburys along with George. A source said: "George half-finished loads of songs and often just forgot about them. There is probably an album's worth of material. Only recently, Harrison's widow Olivia revealed she wanted to do something with her husband's incomplete songs. She said: "There are lots of tracks. Some are closer to completion than others and with those I'd ask for help."

This news made the rounds earlier today, though it would be great,it's not 100% confirmed as of yet.

George did say he had two albums worth of songs recorded as of 2000,so if Jeff could finish the last batch that would be something to look forward to.

This is good news and another project for Jeff and Dhani.I think it's cool that Olivia trust Jeff and that she wants George's songs completed so we can all enjoy them.

Who better to handle this job than Jeff, but hopefully more info will arise and give better details.
There is a song called "Valentine" that was almost complete.

Why not ask Clapton,Paul and Ringo to help, I think George would have been ok with that.
But since Olivia is the keeper of George's flame, she should have the final say.
I think Yoko allowing the session musicians to finish up Milk and Honey was great, it turned out very well.
George's final recording deserve to get properly finished and released.

"Del Shannon's Traveling Wilburys session songs"

It's not clear where the rumors started that Del Shannon was to replace the deceased Roy Orbison for the Vol. 3 sessions and some songs were recorded before Del's own untimely death. George Harrison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne have all repeatedly denied that Del or anybody was ever considered as a replacement and no such recordings exist in any form. Rumors also exist that Carl Perkins was considered as a replacement at one time, which the band also denies.

I think it is all rumor because on the second record they had a picture of a chair with Roy's guitar on it.Carl perkins would of been better than Del Shannon but I really don't think they were looking for a replacement.George told the doctor that treated him after his stab wounds that he didn't think his attacker had came to his house to audition for the Wilbury's.The Doctor was surprised that George still had a sense of humor even after being stabbed.George was the coolest of the cool no doubt.

UPDATE:

Lynne Hoskins of the ELO Showdown mailing got the straight word from Jeff Lynne's representatives about the reports, such as the Daily Express, that he's doing work on unreleased George Harrison songs: He has no plans to do anything on this now. In Lynne's words, "At some point, someday, Jeff may get involved. As of now, there is no schedule and there are no plans."
