Hi Legal_Eagle!,

It's good to see you posting again. OK, I'll take your word for it on payment or not, for the last Globe article. I'm going to find out more about the low copy number DNA testing, which I already thought was just about the same thing as touch DNA testing and post it here as I find out about it.

It wasn't even worth attempting to post here for awhile, LOL, but I try to check in now and see if there isn't some semblance of discussion at least on a few topics! I will be interested to read what you post on the DNA.

Ok, I went back to some emails from 2008, days after Lacy cleared the Ramseys, I asked a noted DNA expert if indeed this low copy number DNA was the same thing as touch DNA, they said YES. So let me tell you from a very famous recent case in this country, the positive and negative aspects of this evidence.

First in the VERY FAMOUS (months before Lacy cleared the Ramseys in Colorado, this guy was cleared by touch dna evidence TIM MASTERS case in Colorado. He was released from prison after 10 years based on touch dna evidence. HOWEVER, this touch dna supposedly matched another suspect in the case, WHO HAS NEVER BEEN CHARGED WITH THE CRIME. If the touch DNA was so dispositive WHY wasn't this other suspect arrested? Is it because there is "reasonable doubt" inherent in the multiplication process, that if you get some contaminated DNA, WHICH WE ALREADY HAVE IN THE RAMSEY CASE, that can screw up the identification process, that contamination gets multiplied too? That's what they said in England and Northern Ireland, when a man was exonoerated on 58 counts of being a bomber, that the technology was not the "gold standard" that regular DNA is, therefore NOT RELIABLE to convict someone ALONE as evidence. Therein lies just SOME of the problems. It's better in exonorating someone as of now than obtaining a GUILTY BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT conviction alone as evidence.

I bought this issue and, I should have taken my own advice. DON'T BUY THIS ISSUE. Remember, last year, after they bought Tricia's "story", and they said THEN an arrest was "imminent". It never happened. NOW, they say JOHN SAYS an arrest is close. Here's what he ALLEGEDLY told them, so you won't waste your money:
"John is in close touch with investigators who are still working the case and he's now more confident than ever that the mysterious intruder police believe brutally murdered Jonbenet will be caught "IN HIS LIFETIME." That's what the ever sleazy Globe considers "close."
Why didn't you just stand off to the side & READ the article? Or get into the longest line in the store & read it while you're waiting to pay for something else. lol

John remarried & of course, he'll be hot news for a while & the media will try to cash in.

This is one of the big problems with the process needed to analyze LCN as opposed to the regular "gold standard" DNA testing, and as we saw in the Chandra Levy case, where there was contamination in the touchDNA evidence after Bode Technology (the company that did the testing on JonBenet's longjohns) analyzed it:

Contamination and Spurious Alleles
The increase in sensitivity of LCN analysis permits the detection of low levels of extraneous DNA contamination that, while often present, is not normally seen with standard 28 cycle STR analysis.17 Thus alleles may show up in the profile that do not originate from the principal DNA donor(s)(see Figure) and, in control experiments, have been shown to occur with known single donor samples. Such allelic drop-in is more-often-than-not of unknown origin but could be due to DNA from a variety of intra-laboratory sources including consumable items and personnel. As a result LCN analysis should only be conducted in sterile laboratory facilities that have in place suitable engineering controls, akin to those employed for mtDNA analysis.

The tabloid The Globe has NEVER missed an opportunity to make some blood money off of JonBenet Ramsey and her murder, and this week is no exception. Tomorrow, the new issue will have her on part of the cover, BUT, even the shameless LYING Globe knows they can't peddle the LIES they have put out in the recent past, such as saying an arrest was "imminent" and the case was "solved."

Candy, I agree with you but sadly, the Globe is not the only co./corp./person to make money off the blood of an innocent child.

And I have to admit that after reading the headlines in the link you gave us, my curiosity is arroused. But rather than give them a dime, I think I'll just do what someone suggested, and that is find the longest line in the grocery store and casually brouse through the paper while I wait in line, LOL. But I don't expect to see anything newsworthy!

Thanks for the Heads Up!

Just to let you know, Candy, they didn't have the issue you're talking about out at the grocery store I went to. I didn't think to check the date on the one they had out, but I suspect it was last week's issue.
