The Constitution and compassion, too

There are 6 comments on the The Deming Headlight story from May 11, 2011, titled The Constitution and compassion, too. In it, The Deming Headlight reports that:

A recent letter to the editor on this page commented that the United States is a republic, not a democracy and that the Constitution does not mandate Americans should take care of each other by providing food, clothing, and shelter for the less fortunate through the government.

Mott, you should be ashamed of yourself for being such a filthy liar. "Paul Ryan...would essentially eliminate all the the poor." No programs are "cut" in Ryans plan. Their rate of growth is slightly diminished. The budget will continue its upward trajectory. The question about supposedly helping the poor is more about scope and size. Does feeding the poor mean potatoes and rice, or goose pate' and Dom Perignon, or something in between. Oppressive taxation inhibits the production of wealth, leaving less to help the poor with.

One day Win, you will have your way. It's happening as we speak. There are too many people like you who are opposed to personal responsibility and enabling mentalities.

One of the things that stinks about it is that when it happens you will not be here to suffer the consequences.

Provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare is just that.

Unfortunately we have created a society in which public assistance has become a way of life, rather than a stepping stone. We are seeing minimal aspirations outside of basic comfort.

We are seeing the third generation following in the footsteps of the preceeding generations with the expectations of entitlement at the expense of their fellow citizens.

Our society has done a 180 from the designs of the original american patriots who crafted our system of government which will lead to the downfall of America.

If we don't ALL sacrifice a little, and adhere to the "Ryan Budget", then our kids and grandkids WILL witness the total collapse of the USA and economy, which will be bloody. They will witness riots, murders, robberies, luting, etc. The likes that this country has never seen. And you, Win, will be deceased, leaving your legacy that would have made Stalin proud.

I read the "Ryan Budget" (obviously you have not) and it will effect me to some degree. I am 60, retired, and have no income. I am living off my savings here in Deming. But even that quality of life is threatened if we do not get our house in order and stop spending our way to WIN ELECTIONS.

If we just put a 5 Year FREEZE on Union Benefit Growth and Frivolous Law Suits by Trial Lawyers, that would start to solve the problem. Then the reforms could kick in and save this REPUBLIC.

FDR is the same president that arrested
the soldiers that picketed him for not
wanting to help the poor.
He was one of the worst presidents ever.
None of his social programs worked.
BHO is using some of FDR's programs to
get votes from the lazy just like FDR.
As I in the the past have traveled around
the world to fight a war I was asked by
the people in that country why we
are called the "Lazy Americans".
They ask if anyone works in America.
They want to know if only the rich work
and pay taxes?
You really don't want to know what I
told them.

Win, one sentence gives away your whole concept of America and especially it's Constitution:: "It's just a bag of ugly bones"

Win, I believe The Declaration of Indendance, The United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and Roberts Rules of Order are the most beautiful and most democratic documents ever written by mankind.

Win, Try as you may, you cannot turn that 'ugly bag of bones' into the Communist Manifesto. God Bless America!.......
