So this Dr. Z. is all of the sudden an expert on the stuff. Did anyone bother to do a google search on the pharmacological research? Tonight was the first time I ever heard of the toxin, so I was curious and looked it up. You know what I found?
"Tetrodotoxin for Moderate to Severe Cancer Pain" on Science Direct's website. Journal of Pain and Symptom Management , Volume 35 , Issue 4 , Pages 420 - 429.
For such a terrible toxin, did you know that there are 29 companies selling it on the internet through chemexper.

-According to the cdc, "possessing less than 100 mg are exempt from regulation."

"Raw puffer fish or fugu, as it is called in Japan, is a national delicacy that is revered by most sushi connoisseurs because of the sensation that it produces."
"...recent research has explored other uses of tetrodotoxin. It has been tested as an anesthetic in animals..."

It seems that more and more law enforcement is being brought to bear on fewer and fewer true, raw criminals.
Lots of gray area, mystery, and hush-hush.
I like the old days when they beat down your door and the whole neighborhood knew what it was about. ;-)

1) Fugu is the meat of the fish, not the toxin itself.
2) Regardless of his motives, posing as a doctor to order a controlled research substance just ain't legal.

I don't understand.Like child pornography,I would think the people putting this stuff on the internet are the criminals and should be prosecuted before the people that subscribe to or purchase it.This sounds like entrapment to me. Shouldn't all this trash on the internet be stopped before it comes to the public ?

I brought a load os sushi, took it home, and tried to squeeze toxin out of it.

I guess I go the wrong kind. Tuna juice doesn't seem to harm anyone. I'm a lousy terrorist.

You know that if he tested it first, there wouldn't be anyone to prosecute.

Skip a step and you wind up in the trick bag.

"They also found a book that describes effective doses for poisoning people, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Rockford."

Nothing like a little light reading for summer vacation, eh?
