As Frank Zappa said, "there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over". This increased tax is most decidedly the latter.

Congratulations to the voters who helped protect vast amounts of useless city workers, the raises they're sure to get and their benefits.
Soon we'll be like Michigan - the only people left will be seniors and government workers.

Now, now...pony up big boy.

The Dispatch will need to explain the amount of tax dollars, stimulus money, AND federal Grant money that Columbus is now collecting into the Coleman lottery fund for political favors.

Yes. This financial crisis was manufactured by the City Leaders for the expressed purpose of paying their political allies. Look where the Capital Funds are currently being spent compared to Mayor Colemans political donors!

FACTS are FACTS. It is all public records.
Cronyism at is worse...and we are paying for it.

Another exception, not mentioned in this article, is that a non-resident is taxed only to the extent they receive income while working in the city of Columbus. So if an employee is based in Columbus but often works from home outside of the city, then that person should not be paying income taxes while they were working outside the city. The same would hold true for business trips outside the city and state. If you work in multiple locations throughout the year, talk to your payroll people to see if your city tax withholding can be adjusted. Otherwise, track the days you work in and out of Columbus, and seek a refund of the excess withheld tax that you paid when you were working outside the city.

Did you know that Ohio is ranked the 4th worst state for business, trailing only New York, New Jersey, and California? Thank your political leaders for that. But don't worry about them, as they are living a very comfortable life at our expense.

Do you suppose raising taxes again, even in the midst of an ailing economy and diminishing middle class is going to improve anything? That giant sucking sound you hear is even more jobs being taken from the people in central Ohio and the moans are from a dying middle class.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Cancer

Take it easy today, or the most insignificant things will get you down in no time. A difficult letter in the post, or a tricky conversation with a loved one, will sink your spirits down to your ankles. Ugh. Life is not as tough as it seems right now, so keep reminding yourself that we can choose to feel better. A bar of delicious chocolate, or a tasty savoury snack might help a little, too...
