sandegold, the Scientologists have had center in Clearwater for many years. The new centers described in the article have been 'in the works' for about 10 years.

The St. Petersburg Times has been investigating and writing about the Scientologists since 1975....I recommend that people check out some of that newspaper's coverage.

Famous & wealthy? Dont forget unintelligent, naive, and crazy. Although that can be said about followers of ANY religion.

because once you like it... you're not allowed to leave... celebs also get tons of special treatment due to the PR they generate. St Pete paper did a great expose about the death of a woman in their "care"... the story achieved nat'l publicity.

Why do they call it a church? It is not a church. This is really scary. The people who go in there are either lacking something in their spiritual lives, or have a morbid curiosity for anything non-Christian (goths). I think there are alot of goths in central florida. I'll bet they all come out not washed of their sins, but brainwashed all the same.

You Scio-sneaks went through a lot of trouble to arrive at the standard: "Scientology is a religion; all religions are bad," punch line.

Scientology is a corrupt business that uses "religion" as a front.

In a true sense, Scientology is not a religion.

"All religions" are not "the same."

Now, raise your IQ by 30 points or so, and try again.
