It's no wonder Throop wasn't available for comment. Once was a time when people would go to the Rose Parade to get an up close look at the Grand Marshal. Pasadena shouldn't be expecting large crows at this parade. Paula Deen would be more suited for the Doo-Dah Parade. Time for the Rose Parade Presidents to stop watching the Food Network for their inspiration.

Who really cares all that much about the grand marshal of the Rose Parade. There are more important things in life to be concerned with.

Exception, the parade queen and the princesses. Pretty ladies are always interesting.

The best they could come up with is this butter promoting country bumpkin. I think she's a phony myself, but my wife watches her all the time. Anyone who watches her program will know this silly woman always infuses gobs of butter in everything she prepares. This old broad is a triple bypass waiting to happen ya'all.

Last years Grand Marshal if I'm not mistaken, was Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, now that's a Grand Marshal worth having. Not some Georgia peach promoting more southern fried obesity on America.

She's riding in a car, not preparing food for the crowd. Who cares if she is a butter freak. Its her arteries for crying out loud. Maybe I'm off the mark, but what more does the Grand Marshall do? I never hear anything about the Rose Parade's Grand Marshal after the parade. Or for that matter, unless they're an uber famous celebrity I rarely hear anything about them before.

Paula Deen is alright, even if she is tryin' a little too hard. But her shows have gone to Hell since she got married. I am sick of her husband/kids/brother/family on the show over and over and over and over and over. I know she is the Boss, but HEY!

Y'all.

So I quit watchin'....

That woman does not know how to apply eye make up correctly. Her eyes look like they are growing black cat fur. And the rest of her? Too many high calorie and unhealthy food choices. A cooking expert? HA HA HA

Having heard her interviewed on non-food-channel programs, she has a lot of charm, and a self-deprecating sense of humor which make her quite likeable. I bought one of her magazines once, and wouldn't cook any of her recipies out of fear for my arteries. But she has a personality which might just overcome the blandness which afflicts most of the people involved with the parade. And not every year gives us a Sully Sullenberger to honor.

In 2012 I would like the theme to be " Tarts & Vicars " and I would like 2 grand marshals ... The Tarts are kind of a toss up Sookie or The Housewives of whatever boughie place they come from and the Rev. Desmond Tutu .
