Posts: 871 First of all, thank you to Mike S., Rob, Johanesson, Little Darlin and DJC for being so fair and level-headed.
It's pretty amazing to me that I could get Kathy to answer questions on tape that I thought might help dispel some popular misconceptions about Elvis, only to get emails saying Kathy is being attacked on this board. As the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished.
As her manager, every significant request for her time or services is referred to me, and I can tell you right now that if she had seriously contemplated doing the show referred to above, I would have handled it. For the reasons cited above and some additional ones, there is no way she could have or would have done the show, and any offhand comment about doing it for a hundred thousand or hundred million would have been made in the same way Col. Parker did when turning down offers.
To those who claim Kathy exaggerates her relationship with Elvis, I would simply remind them that Kathy remained private and tight-lipped about her relationship with Elvis, not even allowing others to mention her relationship with Elvis in their books when they asked permission, until ten years after Elvis' death when Goldman and others mocked and ridiculed Elvis.
Betty Jane Baker, Miss America runner-up and 2nd wife of Mickey Rooney, a top session singer who had worked with many stars, including Elvis, persuaded Kathy to write her autobiography. Kathy did not want to, but finally consented in order to counter the lies. The only reason she talked to Peter Guralnick and other Elvis authors was that I persuaded her to. Contrary to claims that she 'exaggerates' her relationship with Elvis, her natural instinct is not to talk about him at all!" etc. ON FECC.

I don't know anything personal about Kathy Westmoreland as we have never met, and I have never read her book (though I sort of wish I had it because it is rare and expensive now).:) All I can say is that Kathy looked awesome on stage and hit those high notes beautifully. I remember thinking "WOW" when I saw her with her long brown hair and pretty bare mid-riff outfits on stage at the International/Hilton. I enjoyed so much the times I saw Elvis, Charlie, Kathy, and all the backup people on stage. Kathy has always spoken kindly of Elvis as far as I have ever heard, and so for that I am also grateful.

Hi EP4LYF...
It is almost impossible to get without mortgaging the farm. Very pricey on the secondary market from what I understand. The book was called "Elvis and Kathy" and was published in 1987

I don't think (not sure) there were any reprints made so the limited supply is driving up the cost.

It's called "Elvis and Kathy". I have a copy of it. She was very kind to Elvis, and defended him against the MM. She thinks very little of them, which makes her o.k. in my book.

charlie swore by kathy. he said she was a gem and that she was truely a wonderful person and was a blessing and a great asset to the elvis presley show because of her tallent and personality. i have not met kathy myself but talked to her on the phone. i thought she was a lovely lady and charlie was so excited and so happy to get to talk to her when he was in the hospital. it really lifted his spirits even though he wasnt feeling well at all. charlie was very fond of kathy and talked about her all the time in a great positive light.

I have no idea how I ended up here this evening, but it has something to do with the new Google setup today, I suppose, and the updates to all browsers?
I personally would like to thank you,Memphis Flash and Maurice for so valiantly defending me a few years ago, it seems on this board. I'm just happy to have Google recommend it to me tonight, years later. My manager is/was the very best, not only as a dignified representative, but extremely knowledgeable about the topic of Elvis. I can tell by reading these words, that she is the one who wrote them, class all the way. Thank you. It is now the year 2011, and I had never seen this board before tonight! Yes, I have written Maurice, and so appreciate his both knowledgeable and intuitive"insights" PLUS FACT CHECKING over and over again before coming to a conclusion,... and common decency (very rare these days). The Colonel AND Elvis told me that when people begin to attack you...they FEAR you. Fear is powerful, but not as powerful as TRUTH. THANK YOU Maurice and Memphis Flash for even taking the time out of what must be extremely busy days, for having expressed yourselves, and for having defended me. Am so glad google directed me here tonight! Wow...I am amazed.A dignified discussion board? Shaking my head here now. Excellent board discussion group.
