Elvis loved his father and showed him respect even though Vernon did alot of things that bothered Elvis. Vernon wasn,t that ambitious and Elvis mother worked hard to help support family back when it was considered the man,s responsibility.Vernon married Dee who Elvis did,nt care for but he wanted his father to be happy and he welcomed her sons as part of family.ELVIS put his father in charge of business when he didn,t have any experiance but he knew he could trust him.ELVIS also had Vernon,s mother Minnie May Presley live with him in Germany and then at Graceland after he got out of the armyand she was stll living there when Elvis died. I know fans already know this but I just wanted to point out Elvis,s love and respect and how he took care of his family.

even when they didn't deserve it

Elvis employed his Uncle Vester Presley at the gate

and also at the gate Harold Lloyd - another relative - in Harold's book he says he's a cousin, other people refer to him as another uncle

There was some other cousins who were around when he first became famous, one had eye that went sideways and looked like that guy who played in alot of western movies. I think there was alot relatives and freinds ELVIS help take care of.Elvis always had freinds as extras in his movies. mj loved his mother but didn,t like his father and wanted to distance himself from his brothers and have spotlight to himself.I read where some of his brothers were not doing that good financialy .I wonder if they,re doing better now that he died from sales of jackson five material.I ALSO WONDER IF THEY WILL TRY TO CASH IN ON HIS DEATH FROM BOOKS,INTERVIEWS AND SO ON?

I think you're referring to Gene Smith - I think he suicided

there were several suicides on the Smith side

and yes, Earl Greenwood and Donna Early Presley are "cousins" who've tried to cash in.

Billy Smith seemed a rather decent cousin - and Gene's younger brother if I recall correctly

BILLY SMITH was closest to Elvis in lAST 2 YEARS of elvis,s life, but he was on outside looking in after Priscila got control of GRACELAND.I think I read somewhere that there was supposed to be another will where ELVIS was supposed to have had Bily in other people provided for but they never found it.

The last will Elvis executed was apparently quiet different from the previous will where he listed a number of people to inherit

Probably Red was in it too.

Elvis went on a house cleaning phase - and part of that was changing the will to only Lisa benefitting

had he lived longer, he likely would have made another will and put people back.

I always thought that line in the [DR. HOOK song COVER OF THE ROLLING STONE] " I got my poor old gray haired daddy riding in my limozine" was inspired by Elvis father Vernon.

Yes, Vernon has made some mistakes, but he loved Elvis and Elvis also loved his father, especially after the death of his mother, father Elvis very significant aspects.
Certainly I believe that Elvis wanted the father did not marry again after the death of her mother, but he also wanted to Vernon that he was happy.
Elvis was forced to accept a position with Dee, perhaps not very welcome.
But I like how Vernon thought about the people of home to Graceland, especially as he saw some members of the MM, I agree with him.
One thing I want to ask all of you, please, tell me you know more about the graves at Graceland, which is the choice to put there the tomb was Vernon? True? I want to know something more to write later in the Italian forum ... thank you very much!

Yes, it was Vernon who brought Elvis and Glady's graves to Graceland.

It was after there was an attempt to steal Elvis' body.

Elvis didn't like Dee for 2 reasons.

1. Dee tried for Elvis first, and went for Vernon after that didn't work.

2. Dee was married with 3 sons at the time she made her play for Vernon.

well, 3 reasons, I guess

It was too soon after Gladys that Vernon hooked up with Dee.

Elvis probably would have been happier if Vernon had waited a couple of years before dating again

Thank you very much Nina!
Oh yes, I agree, Vernon Dee married soon.
Excuse me, Nina, but I understand you correctly? Dee before trying to Vernon, she tried to be loving with Elvis?

I believe that Vernon loved Gladys, but after her death, Vernon lost contact with reality, the success of his son, perhaps even completely taken him, perhaps a little like his son, he could not see things clearly at times it is not easy to remain reasonable, you can lose your head, it happens that you do not know what choice to take.
Thanks for the info, Nina!:)

Yes, Dee was a golddigger and she first tried to make her play for Elvis

when that didn't work, she set her sights on Vernon - because she could still have the money and fame association that way.

The saddest thing especially for Elvis's death was her mother.
The success also brings some good and some less good.
I believe that Elvis knew these things. He was looking for true love, then there were people (many people as always happens where there is success, money and power) they sought to seize good positions.
Vernon probably did not notice
this situation...

I don't think Elvis was really looking for a lasting love

I think Elvis was girl crazy and was very into the girl of the moment - that he'd fall what felt fast and deep until the next girl came along

and I rather suspect that even if he hadn't been famous, he would never have stayed settled with one girl.

funny how he chased girls through his youth and girls spurned him - only to become the most sought after man

I think otherwise. I always saw Elvis as a real man and simple. He was certainly a showman, he knew he had to do the scene. He was aware of fleeting adventures. But he was looking for a woman who could love him for what he was and not for what he stood for. This is an objective of all the celebrities, that is their big problem. I do not think he was fickle. Often the opposite happened, the woman who was with him tired and then after taking what was there to take leave him alone. Elvis was famous, do not be fooled by appearances, he actually was a very lonely man, just because he was tried for convenience, it was nice to be a man with beautiful, rich and famous, but then after the difficulties that come with success and other types, he was left. We may look different because in reality to a man like Elvis was difficult to stay without a woman, there was always a woman with him, but behind appearances, Elvis was the one who paid the consequences.

-- Some also believe Elvis meant to include the half dozen or so claimants that can be brought in under the changed "To Lisa-Marie and any other Lawful Issue I may have had" whereby Elvis goes on to say "All my children" will receive the balance of their Trusts, when (like Lisa-Marie) they turn 25.. that changed Will was changed March 3rd 1977 - and no one went to find these lost, unacounted for elvis $ibling$ one of which is on you tube at elvisjrsinfo in the trailers for $ibling$- The Greatest Elvis Story Never Told - Till Now & this Elvis Jr is not alone.. that is why the DNA is not released.. They know there is other's out here who have yet to be recognized ... shame.. some R so talented. Gordo.. elvisjrsfound.org - but only if fans look for them...

-- Fame & Fortune makes many a man more handsome to many girls.. it's not funny it is "security" that women first want... the smart ones anyways- What you carry in your Jeans (American Express Gold-diners-Cash)-- Will beat out what you carry in your "Genes" - it is a old story ...$$s ... make short, fat, balding men appealing - Want proof....?- I know of one..anyways...? Gordo..(just this morning I was looking in the mirror at my 6+foot sculptured body.. counting the ripples in my wash board tummy, thinking how great I looked)- then the phone rang & I woke up... anyways .. with lots of money ... U always look good to most women.. in front of you.. watch your back though.. Elvis new that ... but did Vernon.... Eliza .. Who's your daddy??

He changed his Will - it was ignored?-- How many pay the consequences with Elvis Presley?-Gordo
