"Elvis's Twin Sister"

Are you lonesome tonight? Do you miss me tonight?

Elvis is alive and she's female: Madonna

In the convent, y'all,
I tend the gardens,
watch things grow,
pray for the immortal soul
of rock 'n' roll.

They call me
Sister Presley here,
The Reverend Mother
digs the way I move my hips
just like my brother.

Gregorian chant
drifts out across the herbs
Pascha nostrum immolatus est...
I wear a simple habit,
darkish hues,

a wimple with a novice-sewn
lace band, a rosary,
a chain of keys,
a pair of good and sturdy
blue suede shoes.

I think of it
as Graceland here,
a land of grace.
It puts my trademark slow lopsided smile
back on my face.

Lawdy.
I'm alive and well.
Long time since I walked
down Lonely Street
towards Heartbreak Hotel.

A Poem by recently named British Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy.

Maurice I have been looking for that beautiful verse that you posted,(written by you). I was going to bring it up to the top, so new people on the board could see it, but I can't find it. I would love it if you would bring it up or re-post it.

"Memphis Mansion."
There is a fine mansion in Memphis,
Once home of Elvis the King,
It stands on a hill by the highway,
Where his fans now gather to sing.
The grounds are all green in the Summer,
With oak trees casting shade on the lawn,
Beneath them the air is cooler
Behind them, the house stands forlorn.
People wander and weave in the garden,
Where Elvis played host to his friends,
When the days were rich with laughter,
And the songs just had no end.
A Cadillac stands on the driveway,
By the stone lions, that sit by the door,
But today it's no longer needed,
For Elvis, travels no more.
That one Lee? I did a few Elvis verses.

That's beautiful Maurice. You're incredible. But that's not the one. It was the one that started, "Elvis fans no longer have to be ashamed" or words to that effect.

Thanks Carole.
"Elvis and Company.
You know it in your heart,
Now know it in your head,
Elvis followed Beethoven,
And joined the lesser dead.
They do no doubt endure,
Because of song and score.
Along with Michelangelo,
And Socratese of yore.
Just think of those who've passed,
Like Leonardo . Gone.
But you never see the last,
Of names that just live on.
Mankind mourns their like,
All of the lesser dead,
You knew this in your heart,
Now you know it in your head."
That one Lee?

For Lee.

Busy with my sister Dolores visiting us from the UK.

We were touring today and went to see a Hollywood Style Museum here in Newbridge Ireland where a dress worn by Audrey Hepburn is displayed along with a lot more high priced and valuable movie memorabilia.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Gemini

A little give and take goes a long way, so try to be flexible and malleable when dealing with others. It will also pay to ask people what they think rather than to make sweeping assumptions on their behalf, because you could be in for a surprise. A child may have some interesting information for you, or they could make a statement that really sets you thinking.
