Tony is a great talent in doing the 70's voice of Elvis and my guess is that he can sound like Jimmy Ellis better than most.
But of course he can use more than one identity on the web as most of us web writers do. Tony is probably both Arion and Jon Cotner.
He should be on a record label, as I think he's be a great recording artist in Elvis style. And I'm sure that there ARE record labels who want Elvis soundalikes...
You are probably right!

right, Elvis is going to fake his death, go into hiding and then be an extra in a movie?

where's the logic in that?

If Elvis was going to fake his death, it would not have been a drug related death on the bathroom floor

that's undignified - it would have been something dramatic - plane crash or something.

Hey, if you read the whole thread, from the start. I didn't agree with that at all! The thing I talked with some people was that the only tribute artist I had listen to was the one who called him self "Orion"

I probably just replied to your post as a tech matter, not a content one

Orion was not a tribute artist - Orion was a singer named Jimmy Ellis who sounded too much like Elvis to get his own contract

He entered into an agreement with Gail Georgio-Brewer and the then owners of the Sun label to pretend to be Elvis after his death

he recorded an album with Jerry Lewis, and while the record never claimed it was Elvis recordings, it was marketed as though they were secret recordings

And he played up the hype of Elvis faking his death and re-emerging as Orion

Orion was a fictional elvis type character in Gail's book

the records all listed the other characters from her books - the manager, and so forth

after a while when it was clear to people that Jimmy looked nothing like Elvis - taller, totally different face

plus, while the voice was comparable, he lacked the range and qualities of Elvis' voice

so then the myth that there was 2 Orions cme up - the public front guy, Jimmy Ellis and the secretly alive Elvis.

Jimmy gave it up and unmasked himself on stage - recorded under his own name and faded into obscurity.

He started a pawn shop and was murdered - along with his girlfriend by a robber

What makes you think that was anything beyond a "story" for the public? There is a reason why someone so beloved would "leave" under less-than-flattering "circumstances" ... it was about current and future historical public perception. One must do what one must do sometimes ... for one's own sanity.

Think about it.

because too many people would have to have participated in the hoax

the paramedics, the hospital staff, the coroner's staff, the funeral home staff

and yes, future public perception would have been a consideration

Why would Elvis want to end on the joke that the King died on the throne?

Not as many as you think. Some didn't even realize ...

It's never wise to automatically accept what you hear publicly stated as absolute fact ... you have to think it all through. E thought things through very well.

The "future public perception" of 8/77 HAD to be negative. That was the only way it could be.

have you seen the news footage of Charlie Hodge, Joe Esposito, and Vernon Presley?

these men were not actors

they are totally shattered and grief stricken

Oscar winning actors are not that realistic and genuine

My name is Larry Blong and I performed as "Double EL" from 1973-1986. I saw where you mentioned me in your post. I had nothing to do with that crackpot Cotner and his list of other losers. I performed at the first Elvis Convention in Memphis in June of 1976 where George Klein was so impressed that he told me, "Larry, Elvis wouldn't want to see you perform, it would be too scary". GK told me I was the best he had ever seen. For pics of me and Elvis pics too lwilt13@aol.com.

I have read some say a Larry Blong "doubled for Elvis in concerts" and also sang in his place on some albums. I know this is untrue. If you are this Larry Blong-you have the chance to set the record straight-which someone named Larry Blong did in another forum.

This is right out of Stephen King! Its so funny, so laughable that its sad. To honestly believe the rumors and supposition which is taking place as "fact".

Yes I have seen this photo and several supposed to be Blong which were actually ELvis.
But the gate photo appears to have been photoshopped and the shadows and light are not constant. If I can find it I will post a link to the supposed real photo-without Blong in it.
At another forum a "Larry Blong" posted that he had never claimed he had filled in for Elvis, nor sung in his place-that this was a story started by 2 women and that he was going to sue them if they did not stop making this claim. I know the photo has been scrutinized by many and most think is is a fake. So if the "Larry Blong" who posted at the other forum was legit-he has denied all the claims made about him.

Is it Elvis? Don't know, but I personally think this guy has an uncanny resemblace to Elvis. As far as the age, Elvis would have been 54 or so depending on when the film was made. Elvis had one facelift in his career that we know of. Look at Bill Shatner, he's 77 and looks pretty good. Bottom line is I would love to know who this guy really is. Know one seems to know and this guy I would guess knows about all the hoopla, but he ain't talkin.

If Elvis faked his death then he did so for reasons only he will know. If at some point this is made known as fact then some people will be very surprised whilst others will feel vindicated. jon cotner bears a striiking resemblance to elvis and what is more he speaks on a similar spiritual level. he has asked for nothing and claims nothing. I like his voice and I like his sentiments. I would love to be able to listen in to jon's chatroom and wonder if anyone knows how this can be done? Jon if you read these messages keep on chatting and singing there is enough room in the world for someone who looks and sounds like Mr Presley :)
